The OHRRPGCE Community Challenge
Please pardon any spacing/paragraph errors in this post. I have to do all my posts in Note Pad because Castle Paradox's text boxes hate me.
I issue a challenge to the OHR Community!
I challenge this community to make a game- together.
Not only do I want the great designers to contribute, but the beginners must contribute as well.
Here is my idea for the challenge:
1. Everyone who wants to enter replies to this topic.
2. A poll is held to decide who begins the game.
3. The winner of the poll creates the .RPG file, names the game, and then, begins working on it. Two days later...
4. The next person is chosen, and that person gets his or her turn.
This person has two days to work on the game, and then transfers the game to the next person. This repeats until the last person has had a turn, then the game goes back to the original creator, and he has a single day to make finishing touches, then releases the game.
5. Three judges shall review the game afterwards. The three judges can NOT have contributed to the game's design at all.
6. No discussion of the game shall take place between turns. The only way to 'help out' the next person is to send a text file with a maximum of FIVE sentences. These five sentences can say anything relating to what the designer did, or what the designer wants to do.
7. Nobody editing the game may delete any other person's work. It may be edited, but only at the original creator's consent, hence the text file.
8. No ripped graphics or music will be allowed.
9. The story must be original.
10. The game must be an RPG, simply because everyone in the community will be able to help out with the file that way.
11. A read-me file shall be kept, and each designer shall write down what he did while he had the game.
If this challenge ever gets started, I hope that it helps the people of the community learn where they shine a little bit better. Some people working on this project would probably spend all of their time on graphics, a musician would spend his two days mostly on music, and so on and so forth. Also, it will effectively give every member of the community a chance to work with... every member of the community. (Or, most of them)
Also, keep in mind that playtesting is a very important aspect of game design. If the most that you think you can do is test the game for bugs, then do just that! Anything you can add to the project will help, most likely.
Are you brave enough to apply for the challenge?
Prove it and reply.
(Oh, if you don't want to be the one to START the challenge for whatever reason, say so. And if you want to be a judge, say so.)
(Oh yeah, I'm entering as well, but since my internet connection is going to die soon, I want to go early...) |

I like the idea a lot. I'd like to be a judge, if you'll let me. _________________ insert myspace link here. |

I'd like to judge as well. Keep us posted with who you choose and all that.

It doesn't sound like everyone is working together at all. If nobody could communicate with another and a person addition is basically a standalone product, then it's just a whole bunch of short games stuck together. I think rule number 6 will prevent the game from forming a central theme and direction. |

It's also a challenge, though. By limiting communication to only
five sentences between authors, you can still say anything important
while allowing the next person in the cycle to come up with his or her
own ideas. I never said the game would be good when it's done, or that
it would fit together perfectly. But it technically could. And I'm
challenging the Community to see if it can be done. If you don't like
the idea, don't enter. |

LOLOL. This game will be funny. I think it shouldnt have too much rushed humor though.
What I am trying to say is. ILL JOIN! YAY!
Send me what eva update you get in a zipfile and Ill extract it. Thats the only way I can think of getting it. I will work on item system. If one of our graphic pros joins, they will be in charge of most of the graphic. If they dont join, then there is always meeee. Heh.
But be forewarned: You will have to give me my 2 days on a weekend. Preferably the weekend after the next... I can only work on it then...
I hate my father (he doesnt like me making games,so I have to wait until I get back to moms house first...
C ya, yall have fun now, hear? _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Leroy, worry about what you're doing when your turn comes up. If you
have ideas, start writing them down, but don't assume too much until
you actually get the file. Keep the spirit up, though. The drive to
create a game is one of the more important things for a game designer
to possess.
And regarding your schedule issues, wait until we actually start the
process.

Sweet. That's enough judges... Anyone else needs to be interested
in actually working on the game.

I think this could prove interesting. Count me in as a participant. But let's try and not start it until after the Halloween contest is over. Because I want to work on this challenge, but I also want to work on my entry to the contest. So if you could postpone it until like Novemberish. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Waiting until people are done signing up to set the dates, but it will
probably take place in November anyway. Of course, I may be gone by
then, but I trust I can find someone to take over management
eventually.
