An idea...is it possible in OHR?

yea im really new to OHR and was wondering...

would you be able to give characters "desperation attacks" in OHR? Meaning that when they are below...lets say...30% of their total hp, they get a special attack which deals a lot of damage. They can't use it until they are below whatever-percent-of-their-total-hp they have. Is this possible in OHr? If it is I think i'll use it in my first game.

You could most likely do it if you plotscripted the battle system yourself.

Iblis is right, you can do it if you program the battle system yourself but there is no way with the built-in battle system in OHR.

Um, yeah you can. Not sure why everyone is telling you to make your own battle system because there's a bitset in the Enemies--Attacks category that allows you to select up to five desperation attacks.

Just highlight the "Edit Enemy Stats" subdirectory in the main menu, then click on the "Attacks..." category at the very bottom, then highlight one of the "Desperation" slots and select which attack you want to be used for desperation. The only thing you can't set (as far as I know) is the percentage of health required to activate it. You just have to trust your enemy to know the best time to use it.

It's that easy.

I believe he wanted to do it for heros, which in that case would be requiring of a new battle system, unless I can think of some ingenious way of doing it. ...*brain starts to sizzle* nope. Nothing yet. Oookay...

I think he's talking like Terra's Riot Blade attack, that happens randomly when fight is used when in the near-fatal state. I think I know a way to pull this off, XD

I could help you create your own battle system. But you have be a little more specific. The battle system I created is thousands of lines, so I wouldn't be able to simply give you one "hint" that would help you create your own battle engine. If you try to do it and have questions along the way, feel free to PM me with any questions you have. Here's my battle system that I have created so far:

The limit break system I used was more based on FFVII than FFVIII, but I'm sure it's possible to make one for FFVIII, I just took the easier route...

Leroy, the only hint any can give to making your own plotscripted battle system is to PRACTICE.
challenge yourself to practice and think beyond what you normally do...

minnek's script consisting of thousands of lines sounds about right. heck, even a custom menu is thousands on lines. let alone a battle system.
