|
|
When the Universe was young, everything was in chaos. Over millions of years the elements slowly began to form worlds and creatures to live on the worlds. Over time rational humans evolved and came to dominate the world.
As the human's knowledge of the Universe grew they discovered the simplest elements everything is made of. The scholars sorted them into four basic groups: bread, vegetables and fruits, dairy, and meat.
Some sages learned to use these powers and control them, but a meteor crashed into the Earth and from it came the gods of the elements: fats, oils, and sweets. The humans built a pyramid for them to live in, each element having it's own level, and the gods on the top. |

If the main character is made of bread, I will shoot you on Misteroo's behalf. Rethink your concept and try it again. Please. |

This idea is somewhat clever as a joke, but would be stupid as a game. No one would play it, and if they did, they wouldn't like it. _________________ Locked

I'm tired of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water being the elemental powers in games. I think it's time someone tried something new, |

Actually, it sounds more like Lolsidothaldremobine, which had its elements made up random things like can openers and microwave food, or something.
Anyway, it was definitely a joke in that, so if you're serious about this, then it's stupid. |

I was recently thinking it would be cool for an RPG to use the *real* periodic table of the Elements as Elemental spells.
http://dept.physics.upenn.edu/courses/gladney/mathphys/images/periodic_table.gif
Like Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen
The effects of each elemental spell could be abstracted to any degree. You might go with something obvious, like Oxygen=Cure or Iron=Defense-Up, or or Sulphur=Hellfire something based on the name, like Thorium=Summon the Norse God Thor, or Einsteinium=Triple Intelligence etc. |

The problem here is that while earth wind air and fire RPGs honor the ancient greeks and thier philosiphers, Halogrunt's elements honor a fialed attempt to make Americans lose weight from about 10 years ago. _________________

Actualy I'm honoring food; mainly fats, oils and sweets. The ancient Greeks would have died without food. |

I would die without food, too.
Using the actual elements from the periodic table would be an interesting idea. If you, say, used the basic elements known to the ancients (gold, silver, iron, copper, mercury, and possibly a couple others I can't recall) for the elementals (gold = fire, iron = physical, mercury = poison, etc.) and then incorporated every other element somehow, that'd be cool. In fact, maybe I will . . . a plutonium summon would be cool. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

One question, will there be dragons based on these elements? Just wondering. |

According to AD&D 2nd Ed....
Dragons come in three main categories: prismatic, Metallic, and Gem.
Primatic Dragons are usually evil. Red, green, Black, White, and Blue.
Metallic Dragons are almost without exception good. Gold, Silver, Copper, Bronze, Brass.
Gem Dragons are neutral. Ruby, Onyx, Saphire, Diamond, Emerald. |
