I was thinking. The 48hour contests are great and all, but sometimes the themes are not up some peoples alley...
This post was made in hope that people could shed some light on what they think is a good theme for the next contest or any contest for that matter.
I am in no way taking the contest away from the person who hosts the contest normally. If the host decides that he should be the one to decide the theme, thats great, this is just asking for some weird/wacky/strange/normal/unusual/dramatic or whatever type of theme ideas. It would be cool to see what people are thinking for the contest, and perhaps on popular demand we could select a really cool theme for an upcomming contest.
Ofcoarse if a theme is decided by the host of the contest, he/she wont say what it is... as that would just be stupid... Until the starting second ofcoarse.
Just a thought...

Well... every year I do something different for the contest. It's not always just a theme. Take last year's contest, for example. I gave people a list of "ingredients", and everyone chooses 3 of them (or was it 2? I cant remember). Some of the ingredients were pretty wierd, and as a result, some of the entries were bizarre as well (take a look at Blow Up)
I try to choose a wide variety of styles, themes, etc. so that theres "something for everyone", so to speak. Not every year is as "limited" as this was. Maybe next year you'll see something too your liking ^^ |

I love it when the theme is limiting. I think a 48 hour contest should mean a game is completed from beginning to end in 48 hours. Having the theme too open allows people to think, even now, what they'll do for the next one. I know that there's nothing I can do until next year on the subject, and I feel better knowing the same goes with everyone else. _________________ You got film in my video game!

Ahh... I see. Ok, If you feel that the theme should be kept secret and no one should know what it just might be or anything close to that, Thats cool.
The contests turn out good always, I have nothing to complain about. _________________

If you ask me. Its hard to think of a good theme that everyone will do.
I cant really think of 1 theme as you'll see when my games come out as they keep changing a theme regually. _________________ A game to me is life |
