As some of you may know (or may not) I have been silently working on my next update with my OHR project, Fiend Hunter. One of the main reasons that I have not already released the update (Which is nearly ready for release) I am being slowed down dramatically due to my lack of skills in certain areas of tileset design.
When I mapped out the final world of Fiend Hunter I made an environment filled with a variety of unique areas. Some of these areas will not be as satisfying or appealing to the player if my graphic quality is not on par with the path that led you there.
I have written down the final game plans in concept journals and have everything ready to go. The only thing that's holding me back is myself and my obsession for making a good quality game (Which is rarity here on the boards these days.). I won't settle for releasing the demo too soon, and I won't even think of releasing the game the way it is now. And I know some believe that graphics don't define a game, however with Fiend Hunter, graphics are one of the most important aspects since you are exploring the world, finding your own path to take, and visiting several vista points.
Now before I repeat myself again let me get to the point. I'm looking for someone who is willing to create some tilesets that I can use in the game. I'm not asking for you to do the entire tilesets for each and every map, in fact I'm asking you not to because that's my job. Basically what I'm asking is someone who would be willing to do some graphics for an environment such as a desert (Which I'll have to design sooner eventually.).
If someone is willing to contribute something, I could work on the better parts of the game and get it out faster for you to play. Its been a while (June in fact) since I've released the last update and I'm pretty sure many of you have already forgot about the game. I've tried working on these tilesets myself, believe me. I even got so obsessed with the look of my mountain tileset I created that I asked James' permission to use the style I used due to similatities in design with his Wandering Hamster tileset. In the end if I'm not satisfyed with the look, I can be sure that most of the people here would not be either.
That is all I need for now (Aside from an original soundtrack, which I have written music for, but just can't convert it onto midi format).. If you are willing to help, please say so or PM me. I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,

Truthfully, I would rather wait and see what you can come up with than seeing someone else's graphics.
But that's just me.

Well, I wrote all of the songs on piano. When I convert them to midi I always find that the main emotional quality that I intended for the song is missing. I know I can't change that no matter what I do, but converting it to BAM just makes it worse. Maybe if I had a midi keyboard...
Oh well, the music I have in the game right now is the best I could do.
As for graphics, I do agree, it is my job to make the graphics so I can express my true intentions properly, and project my true vision for the world. However some natural tilesets pose a great challenge to me, and I don't want to keep reusing graphics...it makes it too repetitive. Just a tileset for the desert or something would really help me get the game out faster. _________________ Gyu, Doh! |

A keyboard isn't going to help (unless of course you are talking about rubato sections, but that can be simulated with tempo changes, even though it takes a lot of work.) Remember that BAMs don't react to tenderness (volume, "touch", etc.)

Again, faster release isn't really what gamers want (Unless it's, as Rinku called it, evil games.) Of course, if you really just want to release something, you could just rip, study your rippings extrememely, and create your own tiles from those rippings.
But if someone wants to contribute to you (Which is probably not going to happen as this whole "dividing nation" thing seems to be going on. (I thought we were supposed to be about James beautiful creation, not spamming our point to people we hardly know.) you can take their's and do the same.
I guess I could have said, in the end, you should make your own graphics, even if you rip now (Think Final Fantasy H) you can make a remake. _________________ Calehay |

Yeah I understand that. However I refuse to rip graphics, as that would be no different than games I've done in the past.
I've already got people who are willing to contribute, so I guess I am fine for now. I'll get back to work now, and hopefully I'll get a demo out by New Year's Eve...when I have my next announcement... _________________ Gyu, Doh! |
