Cindy saw the world rush before her eyes. Everything seemed to melt together and crumble apart at the same time. She fell forward and hit the floor, everything had stopped and she was still in her own house, Grey standing over her. "W-hat happened?" she stuttered. "Ah," he replied, "Something wonderful, something that will change your life...for as long as you want to live it through..." _________________ A man once said to the Universe "Sir! I exist!"

Cindy was in her house and could see that everything was the same. The garage door closed and the door leading to the garage opened. And out came her parents. They walked over to Grey and gave him a hug.
"Hello there you ole dog." Cindy's dad said.
"So it has Hermes. But we have some things to talk about. About your daughter. About why you have secluded her from the truth." Grey replied.
"Oh my..." Cindy's mom said and then she walked off to put on a pot of coffee. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Cindy's mother took the coffee over to the two men and the dumbfounded girl. Her fingers fumbled with the pot and cups unervingly.
"Ohhh... Yes..." Grey seemed to have trouble with the words. It was as if they wanted desperately to burst out of his mouth like a waterfall, but he was damming them up tight.
"The girl will learn in good time." Grey chuckled uncomfortably.
Cindy's father grunted sternly and poured himself a cup of the hot brew that sat, previously unoticed.
Cindy looked over to Grey, who's face was twitching uncomfortably.
"Why did you come over if you didn't want to let her know everything?" Her father said inquizitively. "The journey must have been long and very hard for you to just do the first part of this."
Cindy looked at her father with an expression of confusion. Until now, her family seemed fairly normal, besides keeping her at home all the time instead of letting her socialize with anyone. Her father and mother were always very busy working at the museum as researchers and were usually in good spirits. She had never seen them so worked up over anything since their German sheppard went missing two years before.
"It HAS been a good LONG time, Grey." Cindy's mother finally spoke above the loud buzz of the laundry machine resounding to tell them the work was done. But the real work was only beginning for Grey.
The spindley old man shot up in his seat and knocked his coffee dangerously close to tipping. "I am sorry, friends, but no one should have to be told what you want me to share with your daughter."
Cindy could tell that none of them wanted to tell her. She grew frustrated and clenched her hands tightly. "What is this all about, guys!"
Grey slumped back down in his seat. "Very sorry. This has been way drawn out." He looked down at his fingers and stopped their violent figitting. "Cindy. You are not... Really... Alive."

Cindy: "Wh-What?!"
Grey: "Your body may exist in the world of the living, but your soul is in purgatory. Waiting for your body to die and accend into heavan with it. But you see, while you may think a mere invisible soul can make it to the gates of heavan alone, it is a very tough journey. And the chemical breakdown of the body provides the neccessary energy to get past the grasps of Satan. And without your body to go with your soul, you will... without a choice... go to hell..."
Cindy's mom burst into tears.
Cindy's Dad: "We should have told you... When you were born you had a severe disease. The doctors thought they got rid of it all. But over time, the side effects became unnotciable. It was killing the very essence of your soul..."
Grey: "But you see, when you reach the age of 14, your soul will take it's path to the otherworld, with, or without your body... But there is a way to stop it... Are you prepared to do whatever it takes to reclaim your soul?"

Cale: Sure. Just hop in with whatever you feel. Like so:
Cindy shook her head and tears poured out like a sprinkler. She grasped her face and tightly dug her fingers into it.
"Wha- You are all just trying to upset me!" Cindy's eyes gleamed with moisture as she glared at her parents and their strange friend. But after taking in the deep uncomfortable silence, she noticed that everyone was focussed entirely on her and their faces were more than serious.
"How can this be?!"
Grey took the necklace which still dangled from Cindy's delicate neck.
"This is the last thing you need to save your soul, Cindy. None of us could have helped this. It could be any number of reasons. There aren't too many sound theries that sound even slightly sane, but what we do know is what we told you."
Grey took another note from his pocket. He smiled again for the first time before Cindy's parents had come home. "You still have a chance. You have almost exactly a year to stop your soul from leaving without you."
Cindy looked at her parents for comfort. "Will you all help me?" She whimpered softly, still recovering from her fit.
Her mother and father nodded. "We will have to." Cindy's mother spoke softly. "Grey will be your mentor for a while while your father and I bring you to Egypt. We can't leave immediately though. This will not be a smooth trip for you."
Her father broke in quickly, "Ah. There is a reason why we would not let you leave the house very often. You see, there is an archane order."
"A cult" Grey interupted, then bowed to Cindy's father appologetically and sat back in his ricketty chair.
"Yes." Cindy's father regathered his thoughts for a second. "They are after your special body..."

Grey: "This group calls themselves the Organization. Mysterious people dressed in black. They hunt for people like yourself."
Cindy: "How do you know all this?!"
Grey: "I... I was once a member of the Organization. I am technically still in it. They think I am off doing some meditation to the east. But the reason you must go to Egypt is because there, the ancient runes of the forgotten pharoh can display a message."
Cindy: "Ummm...Huh?"
Grey: "This coin. This coin is the key to unlocking the rune message. But Cindy, it's no good to just have the key, because I myself cannot read the message. Only those without souls can. That is why it is the temple of lost souls."
Cindy: "NO! I WON'T BELIEVE IT!"
Cindy runs to her room and locks the door. But when she turns around from locking her door she sees a tall man with long green hair in a large black trenchcoat. Shocked.... She falls to the floor and stares for a second. And then she screams.
Green Haired Man: "You'd better believe it Cindy. Because it's as real as the soul you once had."

Cindy tried to scream, but the man in the trenchcoat leaped and firmly held her in his grasp. "Now, listen, Souless," He said, "What do you think that coin did to you? Why did it make you dizzy? It's all a dream my, dear..." he snapped Cindy's neck to the side, "all a dream," he said as she fell limply to the floor, unconcious. The man in a green trenchcoat slung her over his shoulder. He held his right hand out in front of him and muttered something under his breath. A protal appeared in front of him and he stepped through... _________________ A man once said to the Universe "Sir! The door to Cindy's room burst open in splintery shards.
"Damn!" Grey shouted as he saw the last piece of the portal close. He reached into his coat, and pulled out a red box.
"No!" exclaimed Cindy's father. "Grey, you can't! You know the consequences of entering hypertide' kliar!" He knocked the box out of Grey's hand.
"If you were to get hurt, the effects would be distatrous to your physical body!"
Grey flashed a side of anger he had not shown in a while. "Would you rather your daughter be the guinea pig of the Organization, Ken?! I understand your concern, but this is my job. After hurting you and Margaret--"
"We'll never speak of that," Ken said.
"It's time I repaid you." Grey picked up the box. "And if it's with my life, then so be it." he said as he disappeared in a cloud of black smoke.
Ken stared at the space in which Grey had stood, tears beginning to build in his eyes.
"Brother..."

Cindy awoke to find herself in a prision cell. But... it was no prision you see. It had no bars. She pulled herself together and walked to where the bars should be and felt a wall.
Cindy: "An invisible wall?"
Voice: "Yeah... Once you get in here, you don't have a way out."
Cindy turned around in a look of sheer astonishment. She looked down and saw a boy in a blue hoodie, he had long dreadlocks, and wore short pants and checkered shoes.
Voice: "Oh, by the way, I'm Thomas. We'll be living together for a while."
Cindy: "Wh-Where am I? And why are you here. Last I remember there was a man with green hair and then I was gone.
Thomas: "Oh, you must be like me then. An empty vessal? A being without a soul because of some disease at birth."
A man walked around the corner, it wasn't the same man with green hair, he had rather a long blue mohawk. He walked up and put his hand to the invisible wall and then walked through it.
Blue Haired Man: "You. Girl, let's go." _________________ ---------------Projects----

This isn't one of those past ones which got redicculous. This time, we want to try to be serious. Sorry, Tdog.
Back to the story:
Cindy was violently tugged out of her cell by an invisible force. Her arms felt like two great hands had grabbed both sides and were lifting her into the air. She let out a squeel of surprise and the gates threw themselves against the side of the threshhold. The slam echoed all through the dimmly lit underground room.
"I can't say how happy I freaking am." The man with a moehawk said with a grin, revealing teeth stained with gold. "Osiris will be blessed to see you, dear."
"Don't give up now!" Thomas hollered at her as she floted to the dark figure of the man with the moehawk. "I have been fighting them in this cell for months. It can be faught!"
"What can?!" Cindy shot back at Thomas, still not believing what was happening.
Just then, Cindy gasped as a cold wind tugged her down the corridor into a blazing light. The room changed dramatically. Now the two were standing at the entry to a great reck room with a thundering fire pulsing at it's center. Several men were laughing and playing pool off to the side.
"You got an easy one." One of them said and poked glances at the girl that was still being held in midair in front of moehawk.
"This one is weak." Moehawk said spitefully. Then he laughed with relief. "It should be easy to extract from her."
"Osiris be blessed. Once more he shall have a vessel."
The fire in the center of the room seemed to calm down, but then let out an enormous spark, and the spark came to life.
"I want my mommy..." Cindy sqeeked and became unconscious again.

Cindy awoke back in the cell some time later. Thomas was seated in the corner. "Awake?" he called. Cindy sat up, suddenly alert. "Wha-... what happened??"
Thomas chuckled. "You didn't make it that time." "Didn't make it?" she asked. Thomas motioned to her arm. Cindy looked down and saw a bright green bruise on her inner forearm, no more than an inch wide. She immediatly gasped, and clutched it. "What is it?? What is going on??"
Thomas sighed, "It'll get bigger," showing Cindy the slightly larger green marking on his arm. "That is, unless you learn to fight it. I've been through quite a few of their extractions, and let me tell you, this mark would be a LOT bigger, had I not learned to resist."
Cindy, still clutching her arm, looked puzzled. "Resist what?" |
