"It only takes a couple days to make a great game, enough of these year long production periods, start putting games on the list! Also, you've nothing to lose and nothing to fear, don't worry about your games appealing to anyone, OHR is supposed to be the experimental cult level of game design, the digital beatniks, do things that Square/Enix, Nintendo, Sega and Capcom would never try in a million years. Remember also that a game doesn't have to be fun, but it should never be boring on accident." ~Gilbert

for some strange reason i can't remove any files from the zip... maybe it's just this computer, so i'll try again later...
::edit:: i can remove the 'readme' but i noticed... the rpg file is 403kb... while the download is only 14kb, unless thats just from the compression...
well somethings gotta be fixed either way...
::edit2:: heh... post 100... _________________

Hm. I just reuploaded the file with weaker compression. Winzip said some people might not be able to open the one I used before but I didn't anticipate anyone having an extractor quite that old. Redownload and try again. |

The scissors aren't something you get. Don't worry about them yet. |

Just played and beat your game.
It took about 30 minutes.
Pros:
-8-bit color scheme is great! I really felt as thought I was playing an old-school NES game.
-The "find-item to get next-item" gameplay is addicting. You want to find the next item, refusing to quit the game until so.
-This game shows that if used correctly, you could make a simlar situation like this in other rpgs to prolong gameplay (side-quests).
Cons:
-No replay value.
-Music can become boring...and I do understand that the same music for each room is neccessary.
-Bad ending.
Overall, it's a nice attempt at making something quickly. Good job, Iblis. _________________ - Your neighborhood bum, Itistheriz

Played and beaten, estimated 15 minutes. It's like NES graphics on a very simple text adventure, suffering from the downsides of very simple text adventures. That's a discussion for another day, though.
For what it was, it was good. Very retro, no plotscripting required. The NES graphics are really what made the game for me. _________________

A nice way to blow 10 minutes.
I dunno, the game just seemed kind of pointless to me. It was like doing the trade sidequests in Zelda games.
Good graphics/music. |

It's a lot better than most games out there, but the packet thing was just a tad obscure. You understand it when you get it done, but before that, you wouldn't really guess that there'd be scissors there.
Also, it's short enough that it doesn't have a chance to become boring, like your last game (but i guess that's why that one was a tgc game). |

Well, this is a pleasing reaction so far.
I was never sure exactly how difficult the puzzles (dunno if that's the right word, but I'm calling them that) were going to be for other people. If I could get some comments on that, general or specific, that would be much appreciated. If for some reason you absolutely must refer to the solution of a specific puzzle, PM it to me so as not to spoil it for others.

Haha, when I first read this, I thought you were saying my last game was also "short enough that it doesn't have a chance to become boring." That was fairly distressing. |

I was doing my best to be as vague as possible but still let you know what I was talking about. |

Oh, I didn't have a problem with your post, it was sufficiently vague. My request was just for people who might comment in the future. |

I didn't think any of the puzzles were difficult, though "packet" was vague enough to have me thinking, "Wha?" Then it hit me.
The house was really too small for the player to be stuck for more than a few minutes on any puzzle. That's probably good. My hands-down favorite part of the game was the fact that it is a real house that people might live in. Toilet, bathtub, multiple bedrooms. It had everything but the kitchen si--oh, had that too. _________________

I picked this up yesterday and enjoyed it thoroughly. I haven't played a true puzzle game in a while (I should look up more puzzle games). This was a great way to spend that short period of time between school and work where it is too short to do anything productive, but too long to sit and do nothing. I only wish it wasn't such a one time thing. After playing it a couple times, I pretty much have the order down and I am pretty much back to doing nothing again. Now if there is some sort of randomness involved (not the same order over and over), this game would preserve better. :p
