Eggie: Mel Gibson isn't Catholic. He's a member of a breakaway sect from the Catholic Church that rejects quite a few of its teachings (no, not Protestantism, different one). _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

My understanding is that he is Catholic, though I do know that he disagrees strongly with Vatican II's elimination of the Latin mass. _________________ My name is...

As my friend said, "Yeah, I watched it. And I felt like shit when I came out." |
This is because Mel Gibson is catholic, and I think it's the way they concentrate on the death of Christ more than his Ressurection. Also, the movie wasn't good, being in subtitles in all. But even more so, it was like a gore-fest. It wasn't concentrating on what mattered. You're totally right Shadow. |
Actually, we don't, as a group, focus more on the death than the resurrection. I am a practicing Roman Catholic, and I have been for the past 17 years. I may be reading something into your posts that isn't there, but I've never heard ANYONE in my church talk about the death without talking about the resurrection, but I have heard many talk about the resurrection without the death(death being nececcary FOR resurrection).
Even though they all broke away, usually over silly little things, we Catholics still beleive all Christians ARE Christians, even if they don't think we are. All you really need to beleive to be a Catholic are the Nicene creed, and that the place in the Bible where Jesus says "This is My body" and "this is My blood," that it's literally true(just about the only thing Catholics beleive is literal, while protestants beleive it's symbolic).
My dad is a Baptist, always has been a Baptist, and always will be a Baptist, but he's a Catholic now, too. Just because as a Baptist he MUST beleive that passage to be literal.
Before reading this post, I thought that you guys were all either Atheist(a very poular religeon), Agnostic, or (wierd as this may sound)Bhuddist. Shadowii showed me, though.

Sorry for being new. Even more sorry if this is one of those "dead" threads that I just made undead. Even more sorry for not joining two years sooner, before my only finished game got destroyed.
Better late than never, I suppose. _________________

Hi Nathan Karr! Yeah, this was pretty much a dead thread. Some people get annoyed when they get revived, but there aren't too many live topics right now, and you had something to add to the discussion so it shouldn't matter to much. Anyway, welcome to Castle Paradox, don't let us scare you away. _________________ Ssalamanderr's Journal!: http://www.livejournal.com/users/ssalamanderr/

| Agreed, it is in fact, a lack there of. And I take offense, I am a practicing Roman. Not Roman Catholic, mind you, simply Roman. And by Jove, I think you're onto something. |

You seem pretty sensitive to the anti-homosexuality aspect of your preacher's sermon. _________________ Play Horrible Fantasy NOW! |

After reading this, I thought that you were closed-minded (a very popular dogma), stereotyping, and (weird as this may sound) sanctimonious. _________________
