Goddamnit, Fenrir, how do you make sprites so fast? It took me a week just to make this:

I need focus.

I'm certain you've been asked this before, Fenrir, but what artistic background do you consider these to have developed out of?

These developed out of my skill at drawing "Furry" art. Literally. And also just plain hard work and dedication to seeing a project come to fruition. But now, for the heroes. I won't be showing ALL of them, nor every animation pose, to keep the level of spoilers down to a minimum.

A generic warrior, standing proud and ready to face an uncertain future.

A female ranger from the elven lands. This character was the first I had planned out.

A Valkyrie, based partially on Castle Paradox's mascot, and Megaman X.

There was a movie called Erik the Viking which had a Christian Missionary in the raiding party. He was perhaps the most amusing fellow out of the bunch.

The classical Berserkergangr! Mash!

A witch, skilled in conjuring up spirits and dark magics. Where have we seen a character like this before? HMMM

Cool, the anatomy is impresive for a sprite, you have really become a pioneer in the spriting field. They look cell shaded, while the majority of sprites try to be realistic ala FF6.

They're great sprites, but I don't think he's doing anything so groundbreakingly new to be called a pioneer. Definitely one of the best artists we have though. Kid's got style.

Your enemy sprites are very nice Fenrir. Their comic apperance reminds me of the style used by monsters from the dragon quest series. :)

Sorry for the lack of updates. I initially said the enemy sprites were done, however Moogle and I just have so many ideas going back and forth that I felt it was time for another round of show and tell Razz

Love the scythe on this one.

Of course, this one's the game's "thief" class - the Brigand. You may notice that half the heroes are female actually....

The bard. Singer of tales, plucker of the god's guitar. Because hard rock and heavy metal are indeed the music of the gods.

A preliminary titlescreen, though by no means the game's finalized title. I think going with a gradient color for the tree and roots was a good idea, and centering it along the image draws your eye to the title. And what's this? An OHR icon? Razz

Some walkabouts, showing several of the game's heroes milling about. Likely there will be more in this area, but for now, this is all you get to see.

The edge of a town, with a dark forest just on the other side of that brick wall.

More to come soon, though right now it's the boring work of creating walkabouts for the heroes and NPCs of the town. 'Till then, enjoy!

Show and tell time? A track from the game for those of you interested in the quality of the game's music

Bah, just found this thread.

This one reminds me of the swirling color from the Lovecraftian Mythos.... and suddenly I have an idea for another game. Dammit, I have more ambitious plans than I have time!

Bena, you and I ought to talk sometime, too. I'm going to be doing some of the game's songs. So far, I am doing:

* battle
* boss battle
* villain
* last dungeon (villain reprise)
* final battle (villain reprise)

It would be a good idea to coordinate our work, not only to avoid redundancies but also to make possible some thematic continuity (like how the villain theme is reprised in the last dungeon and final battle themes).

Also, you should know that anything you compose for this game effectively becomes public domain... but you probably knew that.

You should have my message in your inbox, now

I'm sure it won't be too hard to put the game's music under a permission only basis, just include a readme with the game. If we're going to keep working on it after this release as planned, I wouldn't want the music to be totally owned by the public just yet. We should all sit down and talk about it sometime, though.

I really like the title screen. Most of the people who first see the OHR probably know about Final Fantasy and have dreamed of creating a final fantasy of their own. Good thinking. Also, kudos on adding my fav OHR logo in the corner.

As for the town, I always loved the way you can put a roof up. The dark forest is sort of broken by the funny, bright flowers, am I right?

That's the one. Forgot the name, I just remembered it as the swirling color from space, since that's all I've ever heard it described as. Good work though. Graphics that make me think that hard are good things.

It looks as if this is going to turn out extremely well. I think this will suit well to anyone who opens the OHRRPGCE for the first time, and will really show of the power of it. Excellent work.
