If you've been paying any attention to me at all these past few weeks, you'd know that I'm currently building a custom battle system for my next game! And now a demo's been released, so go try it out!
And, uh, read the text file before you gripe to me about anything.
Mind you, a lot of things haven't been implemented yet, so stfu. |

Why does the menu take such a large portion of the screen? |

I'd originally wanted to have 6-hero parties, so the menu's just big enough to show all the characters stats at the same time.
Also, the heroes get about ten abilities each later in the game, so I need to have a menu big enough to fit everything in. (I didn't want to script in a scrolling menu) |

The menu just looks really big and obtrusive. In fact, the object of many game designers is to keep the menu size as minimal as possible, some even opting to remove it using clever tricks.
A size-variable based menu shouldn't be hard to implement, especially considering how far you have gotten to get every else working. All it requires is adding a menu_y+n type of formula, with n varying depending on the heroes/abilities present. Let's not get lazy now! |

Wow.
That's.. really really smart. Well, it's kind of obvious NOW of course, but I have to wonder why I never thought of that. For the next update, it will be as you have said.
EDIT: ..or not. It seems I've gone the way of the sloth after all.
