I was just thinking about how to go witht he random abttles in CPVS. SHould they be the tileset kind that get on my nerves or the kind where u have to touch the enemy walkign aorund before battle.
pros&cons
Random
C:The random battles that you can't see are annoying
P:You can fight over and over for levelbusting type RPGs
NPC Activated
P:You can see who you're going to fight so you cna prepare strat. and stats. So you won't be pulled into a battle you can't finish
C:If you have 1 use NPCs you can only level up so much...
So what if I took the good sides of both?

Maybe you can have a few NPCs per map that are 1 time use NPCs. You write down just what "tag" they're using. Each 'area' has an autorun plotscript that resets these tags back on everytime u start the map. Thusly the NPCs come back right? So you can keep fighting if you wish, or you can just clear the map.
Everybodies happy.
Can it even be done? _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

Yes, it can. But allowing levelbusting isn't necessarily a good thing.
Off the top of my head, OHRer's Noel (me) and Lolsidothaldremobine (Mattgamerr) use one-time NPCs to trigger all of their fights. You might try playing one or both of those to see if you like how they work. (Although they both use one-time NPC battles, it may be worth trying both because Lolsi is much more of a traditional RPG and Noel is more challenge-oriented: you can only heal at checkpoints, for example.) _________________

i'm pretty sure adrian had something like this on crescent dream, so my guess is that it is entirely possible. yeah, just have a script that turns on the specific tags everytime. make sure you use different tags for each different type of enemy, though, as then they'll all disappear after you kill just one.
edit: actually, you could just use a tag for each one to go into a fight when in contact with the npc. _________________

I think once you killed an enemy in C.D that it was dead for good.
Alls I'm sayin' is those oldskool people can level bust and the new school people like me won't want to too shoot the computer becasue of endles random battles . _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

Assign a tag to each battle that makes that NPC disappear (I don't know if that can be done with duplicates). Then make a plotscript that turns off each tag after -blank- ticks, so the NPCs reappear and on top of that predictably for your leveling pleasure. Or not, but I'm sure this will inspire more educated ideas. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

It's possible to reuse usable only once tags (the ones that you set in Custom) if you need them. Next to 'Usable only once' in the menu, the tag number will be displayed. If you use settag() with this number, you can reuse NPCs. |

So, the set tag () should be at the map's autorun script??? _________________ The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on.

AdrianX had already used that battle encounter system in CD.
When you reenter a map, all of the enemies that you had killed will reappear. It's a really neat thing if you know how to do it.. _________________ The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on.
