I remember back when I started OHR-ing, I found a useful little combination of Wave and Oscillate in the attack appearance could make a laser-beam like animation. But now, I can't seem to get this to work. Am I forgetting something here? |

Using "Wave" type animation on a single target produces a "beam" effect. What matters is the single target, not the "Oscillate" frame pattern (although oscillate does look good with wave) |

If you want to make a beam, then you have to keep in mind a few things:
~ Yes, you need oscillate
~ Each "section" of the beam will be offset a little bit compared to the previous section. I don't have access to the code, so I'm not sure how much, but you need to keep this in mind when you're doing the sprites.
~ When you do the sprites, each frame will be the same, but higher or lower to compensate for the the offset of the section of the beam.
So, let's say that through experimentation we discover that each section will have an offset of 0, +10, 0, -10... etc, then you need to put your frames in 0, -10, 0, +10.
As I typed that, I realize that this can only work if the wave starts at +/-, not at 0. The reason is that the 0 needs to be in the middle for the oscillation to work properly, since the OHR goes "frame 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1...". I need to check to see how the wave pattern works to see whether this is actually possible. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

Set the target from spread to focus and it works fine now. But there doesn't seem to be any offset at all (Might be due to the fact that the beam is just a gradient line).
Thanks a lot! |

What I mean is something more... beam like.
Assume the following attack sprites:
If you put those on a focussed wave spell, it'll look something like this:
However, if you modify the sprites to account for the offset (the upper and lower lines in the example):
Then you (might) get a straight line. It depends on how much the offset is, and the order it goes it (as I mentioned previously) _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.
