I really really like this. It's got a really cool, traditional look to it, it's great. My only complaint is that the houses in the farm area shot don't look like they have a roof; the roof looks like a lighter shade part of the wall.
Other than that, they look great man. Keep it up! _________________ ---------------Projects----

Yeah, the trees are the only bit that really doesn't look good. Tree trunks never get wider going up. Then there's the unreadable font, but I assume that's a temporary "feature" of these screenshots.
Unrelatedly, I'd rather you didn't post them in that format, since it makes me scroll horizontally, which I hate. _________________

That tree is nicely colored and dithered, though. I give it that much. _________________

Yeah, the house graphics are ancient, I have been meaning to replace them. Probably going to stay with the 'plank'-ish design, just going to do it better now.
The font thing happened after taking screenshots using the printscreen key. It is, however, my own font, which I'll probably submit for critique eventually, to make sure it's readable to other people.
The left and right parts of his animation are really meant for his slower walking speed (which will reduce the 'noise' he makes while walking, cloaking his presence even further). They do, as you have sensed, look awkward at full speed. I just thought I'd worry about putting the right stuff in the right places later on.
I'll work on the tree's trunk and see what happens. Thanks guys _________________ SACRE BLEU!

I agree; also, the up sprite doesn't look like he's taking steps nearly that large. Bring in the legs a bit! _________________

So, there's a lot of different sprites I want to do, but frankly, I'm under enough of a workload as it is, doing everything but programming (except for all the guard paths I program in - which sometimes require like, 17 waypoints). Any of you out there who might be interested in doing the sprites? I'd want to keep the same overall style of it, but I know there's someone out there who can do it better and much much faster. Four frame walking cycles would be preferable. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

I just noticed something, the fire in the dungeon area looks awfullydark. When well... it shouldn't, ha. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Well that's what people are describing when they use the phrase 'lazy fire'. It doesn't have enough motivation to shine as brilliantly as it could
Thanks for pointing that out, though, I'm just a big joker. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

Despite being rather plain (I'm a sucker for flamboyent graphics), the walkabouts seem to be able to accomplish what I've never been able to do, which is actually look like the arms/legs are swinging.
Would it be possible for you to post an animated gif showing the in-game result? _________________ Allow me to preemptively disclose that I probably hate the person posting below, including myself. |
