Oh noes!

I just updated to the latest version of the editor (on the main page, when you first visit the site) this evening, and suddenly my game just won't start properly. The camera endlessly scrolls to the left, my hero doesn't appear. The fullscreen things come up to introduce the game, the text boxes comes up, but then when the screen fades in and my puppets are supposed to act, they just... aren't there. The camera refuses to stop going left. When the introductory part is over and the game should be played, the camera keeps scrolling and my hero is still invisible.

I tried recompiling the script and importing it again, but the same problem happens. So I tried playing it in the old client (from well over a year ago) again, and the hero and NPCs she's interacting with appear fine, along with the text. The camera doesn't scroll in the old version, either, but they appear to be on the wrong map, or atleast the map they are on is using a completely wrong tileset, and the intro loops endlessly, necessitating a ctrl-alt-delete forced quit..

There's nothing wrong with the script itself as far as I can tell. It worked perfectly before this update.

Halp?

Oh wow. So you used Ubersetzung? This is pretty bad, since we were about to release the next version today. Please get the Voxhumana RC (from here (minimalistic floppy version)) and tell us whether the bug appears in it.

Actually, we really should take a look at it even if it does appear to work with Voxhumana - the problem might still be present but hidden. Could you please zip your .RPG and all your scripts and either attach them to the bug I just created: '' . bug_title('576') . '' (you need to create a bugzilla account), or email it to someone: 'User:James Paige' would be the best person right now (as my harddisk with all my OHR stuff just died 1 hour ago)

BTW, Esc+pg up+pg down is a hotkey to instantly close the OHR, if it's not frozen (or you could just click on the X)

Whoa. Normally when I post convinced I've found a terrible bug I'm told the error exists between the keyboard and chair. I was so hoping this would be another easy fix.

Yes, I used Ubersetzung. I tried Voxhuman as you suggested, and it did the exact same thing, so I zipped up the RPG file and my hamster script and sent it along. How embarassing, it's a game I started in high school yeeeears ago, and it's not improved much since then.

I'm sorry about your hard drive! I hope it makes a speedy recovery, or at least coughs up the data if it's going to insist on staying dead.

Massively different behaviour between versions is a tell tale sign of a bug. Thanks for that bug report: both problems are now fixed, so wait around for Voxhumana.

Sadly, my harddisk is probably going to be coughing up nothing but shrapnel.
