well now that i've got everyone's attention..

i don't even work on Genesis anymore, but GEEZ LOUISE it's just so good i can't stop advertising it. my brother (sephy99) has been working on it ever since i realized i'm far too lazy to consistently work on anything. a newer version was released in 2007 but was only met with a few comments along the lines of "oh neat, i'll play that eventually..." what an outrage! >:O

well anywho what i am getting at is that Genesis is still being worked on, and i really don't want the next version to just get lost between the frequent 2-second demos of random games being released and then never touched again. so, i figured the best way to accomplish this was through ~sneak peek screenshots~~.

the princess' sweet suite. (see what i did there?)

are those foxes? yes, i think so.

airship time!

having a heart-to-heart with the queen.

what is a game without pirates?

sit in during parliament and let the truth come out, as well as the claws.

relax in Setsuna City's courtyard.

is that Yuriko?! :O

features a new way to level up that lets YOU choose when to fight.

DECEIT AND LIES EVERYWHERE.

not to mention a sweet dance number with some special guest appearances.

so basically what i am getting at here is that good OHR games need to make a comeback! there is no set release date for Genesis but maybe these screens will be enough for anyone who has wanted to make a great game but feels there isn't anyone who will appreciate it. i will! and i want you guys to do the same for Genesis because my brother put way too much time into it for it to just get covered in dust on the gamelist. alsoo, there is a fairly recent version of it here if anyone is interested in it since i think it went pretty unnoticed last time i mentioned it.

p.s. if there have been any good games released lately please let me know because all i am seeing is entries for terrible game contests.

Wow. Beautiful graphics! My favourite is the beach, with the brilliant curves of the sand, water edge and rock. Is that animated?

If you need encouragement, I am willing to give it. I'll try and remember to play the 2007 release soon (which has been on my to-play list since then. I played for a while and was really impressed but for some reason didn't go back - probably the length of my to-play list. Come to think of it, I've been looking forward to playing it ever since). Downloaded in preparation.

What's that level up system you mentioned? (Is it a surprise? It's not in the current release, is it?) Any specific engine features that would help with it?

Good games from how recently? There have been a few neat games the last several months, but I haven't played many of the bigger ones yet, like Tales 2 and Bloodlust, so can't tell you. Wow, too busy...

the level up system isn't actually a system, we just got a lot of complaints with the first demo that there wasn't enough time to level up so my brother added areas similar to breath of fire 3 that you can enter and roam and fight, and there's sometimes some items to be found.

I've always wanted to do this kind of thing with OHR tiles. I bet it's easier with layers now, but I still don't have the patience.

Props to Sephy for his hard work and guts!

Those are mighty fine graphics and it sounds like you have been working hard on the game play factors as well. I especially like the stairs in the last screen shot.

Was definitely most impressed with the circular rooms. It makes me wish the sprites could be higher resolution though, they almost look out of place. Music is a big determining factor for me though, so I'll play whatcha got before I make any further judgments.

That beach scene reminds me of King's Quest VI. They need to make awesome games like that again.

Yeah, this really shows the OHR's 20x20 walkabout sprites as unreasonable.
