I never thought that this day would come to pass, but after almost ten years with this community, I have released a complete game. It is my pleasure to present to you, my first OHRRPGCE game, The Omega.
“A massive earthquake shakes the ground, causing land and villages to crumble. The freshly made crevasses give birth to thousands of demons, which pour out and wreak havoc across the land.
Over the horizon, you see a small silhouette of a paraplegic creature. Behind him stands a grotesque, colossal figure seemingly built from metal scraps and human flesh. Needless to say, something is very wrong.
As the tremors subside, we find a red-headed, flat topped man on a shore, alone. As he lies there, unconscious, little does he know that he will play a key part in saving the world from a premature end of time.
Welcome to the age of the Omega. Times are harsh, and everyone has been affected by the recent events. You will not find loot tucked away in treasure chests at random locations, and you will not obtain gold from killing beasts outside of town. Whether you are mining for ore in a remote cave, skinning sheep and rabbits for clothing material, gathering animal scraps for use in cooking, or accepting prospect quests from local townsfolk, only from hard work and dedication will you survive another day.
During the course of your adventure, you will uncover the cruel truth of your world by conversing with the townsfolk. You will accept prospects and run errands to make money but also help those in need. You will adventure across the now scarred, but once beautiful, world and meet friends that will help you along the way. You will battle against dozens of foes, and master many unique abilities for each character. You will join one man on his quest to rediscover his identity and ultimately save the world from a paraplegic hermaphrodite.â€
Also included in this package is a fixed version of the game that inspired my work, Fred’s Great Adventures of the Lost World, by Timmy. It has basically remained as intact to the original as possible, besides a few minor grammatical and balance fixes.
I hope you enjoy my game as much as I enjoyed making it. This is only the beginning of my OHR career. If you enjoy this game, keep your eyes peeled for more things from Meatballsub in the future.

A minor issue where Derf's house would sometimes not show up correctly after completing the storyline at Dregs has been resolved. The corrected game file has been uploaded here. |

Just a small question, is the game fully complete, like the story has an actual end, or will there be something like "You've finished part 1 of the trilogy, wait for the next one" at the end? _________________ Snippy:

Yep, The Omega is part one of the trilogy but is in fact a complete game. The second part, which I have just begun working on, is set about 500 years after the first part. You will not fully understand the story as a whole until the final portion.
If any one has any comments about the game, good or bad, please let me know. I am very curious about what everyone thinks about the game. _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

So it's a bit like the Phantasy Star series? Like each part is a complete story but all parts as a whole create an even 'larger' story? _________________ Snippy:

If Phantasy Star has three parts, then yes. It's just like that. |

Phantasy Star is actually four games (I think 3 is a side story, though). I wouldn't put numbers to so great importance that it's no longer a comparison, though. _________________

Yeah the actual number of parts doesn't really matter too much. The point is that the main story goes over all parts and is some kind of "timeline story" while each part has its own "hero story".
Anyways, I think I'll give the game a try when I get to it (pretty busy with work lately). _________________ Snippy:

I started playing this now and it looks pretty good.
Some things seem a bit weird game-balance wise:
- The beginning mobs all only deal 1 HP damage to me, but then suddenly there's a Grizzly monster who can basically deal 18 HP damage to me in one turn (with poison), seems to be like a too huge jump of power. I'd rather see him dealing a bit less damage and the other semi-hard monster deal 2 HP damage instead of 1.
- In the mountains some monster uses a mute skill, but it only lasts one second? Should at least last 5 seconds so it's of any use...
Here's bug list:
- in the status descriptions you are missing a space in the Accuracy line, so it has the same length as the other lines
- in the first house a wall is missing next to the eastern window
- in the guide you explain the MP% status, but it's not displayed in the status window, on the other hand "Hits" is displayed on the status window, but not in the description
- I can walk on one tile of the earthquake crack near the starting house on the world map, don't know if that's intentional (sometimes the wallmapping seems a bit strange for me like I can't walk on some free spaces but I can walk on a crack like that)
- the "Wanted!" quest shield for the strange sighting near the like can only be read once, I have seen the sighting already, but I haven't given it back to the responsible person yet, so it should still be readable until then...
- in the first village the houses are very narrow, someone the NPCs can get in your way so that you get stuck... I had to wait 5 minutes until I could exit the house...
- in the first cave-part of the mountains there's a wall on the left side of a bush but nowhere else (you usually can walk ontop of all the bushes)
Also, how can I learn Overgrowth from Saplings? They never use it for me and just killing them with Alan won't help either... _________________ Snippy:

Update!
Balancing issue:
- I think getting the wool is too expensive, to get all the armor you need to do it like 4 times which costs like 200 gold... this is in no relation to how much the other equips cost and earning 200 gold is extremely difficult in this game to begin with...
I also still having problems learning monster technique... I keep fighting the monsters but I neither learned Overgrowth nor Rage... is there a trick to it?
More bugs found:
- when you return to derf's house 'later' one of the stones or above the hero sprites
- when I fight a battle on the world map a timer 0:00 appears, then derf's house disappears on the world map and can't be entered anymore
- when I fight a battle in the crack cave the 0:00 timer appears too and then the entrance opens again and you can leave
- right of the first coins in that cave a wall is missing
- after taking the second coins in the cave there is still an invisible wall were they used to be
- in the town you reach then, again the problem that after reason the second 'wanted' sign you can't read it anymore, additionally you can walk over it after that
- in the second forest some grass tiles are above the heroes, some other grass tiles have invisible walls
- if an encounter occurs when you start mining then you won't see the mineral after the battle anymore so it looks like you hit on nothing
- splint armor is equipped at the wrong position (arms instead of body) _________________ Snippy:

I know, but you still only get little money for the ores. I need to repeat this at least 5 times just to get enough money. _________________ Snippy:

A mixture of selling ores and doing the repeatable quests should net you enough money for anything. I intentionally made it somewhat difficult to gather money to better fit the atmosphere of the game.
As for the extensive list of bugs you mentioned, I appreciate you looking into that for me. I would like to address and discuss them, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
Thanks for playing, though. _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games
