Looking for robe designs - I'll be using them on Katrina, my girl-mage who's starring in my Halloween '09 entry.

Specifically, I need robes that pertain to these themes:
-Fire
-Water / Ice
-Plant / Earth
-Darkness / Occult / Black Magic
Sources can be from anywhere IRL or OL, which means anything goes. Pull a design from your favorite game or MMO if you'd like.
Don't leave us hanging, now. She hates having a wardrobe of one item.

On a more serious note;

For Darkness/Occult/Black Magic

Hoods always remind me of the occult :p and darkness.

Google is always a good place for references. You can simply refer to the Princess Bride for how a Fire Robe works. For water/ice, I recommend looking up "Ice Queen" images and apply how people design their dresses and apply such designs to a robe instead. For an earth robe, I can't really think of anything to reference, so you can probably go with a brown robe with moss patches, much like Torterra:

And then darkness/occult is obvious, if not bland. Probably have to look up cult stuff on that one or something, or just pick out something Tom Cruise wears.

Not exactly any of the categories, but the robe design itself is very nice, her flip-side looks more like something James would draw :p

...weird she has less skin showing than I recall xD, however looking at this makes me think of a fire robe.

hope this info proves useful :p

EDIT: Forgot to mention, for people who don't know these are from Grandier 2, while linear it's a very interesting RPG Big grin

Okay, got some preliminary ideas on the robes, seen in these walkabouts:

Needless to say I've still got a lot of work to do, turning these into battle sprites. But I think this is a good, solid foundation, I've got nifty little details on each of them:
-FIRE: Split down the middle and at the thigh, showing the legs. The tail is long, so this still counts as a robe. I will later add a flame pattern to the sleeves.
-EARTH: Went with the continental design inspired by Torterra, with the addition of a "river" belt. Need an extra detail to add onto the big sprite, though.
-DARK: The only one that has a hood to hold back the hair. I plan to add a diamond pattern to the sleeves and bottom half of the robe, and possibly an eye symbol around the midriff. Somehow, this was my design inspiration. I don't know.
-ICE: Inspired by a not-yet-seen character in Viridia, a priestess-type:

Admittedly, Katrina's version looks more like a princess than a priestess. Gotta love the deep blue though.
I may make a "vote for your favorite" thread when they're all finished.

Fun fact! SHiIDA's four elemental attack types are FIRE, ICE, DARK... and LIGHT. Hm.
