I want to run FreeDOS as a virtual machine in Ubuntu Karmic, but I don't know how. Since this isn't OHR related, I'm asking this here: How do I do this? Preferably for free.

I use dosbox when I need DOS in a virtual machine on my Ubuntu box.
You can search for dosbox in the synaptic package manager, or run
Code: | sudo apt-get install dosbox |
If you need a full-featured virtual machine (dosbox is a dos-only virtual machine) I suggest Qemu, with the Qemu Launcher. But Qemu is a little more work to set up, so I don't suggest it unless there is some specific reason why Dosbox won't work for you.
Other options include:
dosemu, which is less polished than dosbox, but better if you need to be able to run it in a console (I use it at work all the time for that reason)
bochs, which is similar to qemu, but it has been so long since I have used bochs that I couldn't tell you anything more about it. |

Use your FreeDOS iso to install into a virtual machine with this:
http://www.virtualbox.org/
Near as good as VMware, and free for non-commercial use. (Though I've only used the Windows version.) |
