If a game that is made over two years is amazing, then how would a game that was made over 7 years? How 'bout a game made over 7 years by myself? Because when I first played Earthbound and FF6, I had this Cross-Game of the two. It starred a little boy who journey's throughout the World, Subworld, and beyond?
Okay to prevent this post from becoming spam, I say that Fyre could be right. I mean, what does it take to make the best game ever? Maybe it takes a Million Dollar idea, that cannot be made through long planning, but luck. What then? |

Ahem.
We aren't talking about Moogle1 making the Best Game Ever on the OHR. The topic clearly says "Moogle1's NEW Best Game Ever," which implies it will be HIS best game ever. There is nothing in there that says it will be the best game ever for the engine. So stop discussing it. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

While many of moogle's games never really were completed (outside a select few) it is undeniable that he was the first person who even bothered to try and create a working tactical battle system (athough it is rather sluggish) while many people simply talked about how cool it would be to see one. I can't say that what he contributed game-wise was revolutionary, but what he accomplished with plotscripting certainly was. |
There was a working CTBS/Tactics style engine in Sword of Jade 1 before he released his. Except his was about 10 times slower and the AI gets lost sometimes. He in fact, asked me for advice on working on one, so.. yeah. |

Yes, planning. It is always handy to keep these tools:
-50 page note book (or college rule)
-pencil (duh)
-adn a scetch book! (Muahaha)
*smaks himself in the head*
And don't be like me; pay attention in school. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

The way people are talking about it, they make it sound like the BEST OHR GAME EVER. Anyway, if he really hasn't been on OHR for two years, what if he is not caught up with OHR? Maybe he is thinking some incredible idea for an early OHR engine. He probably has no plotscripting skills, depending on how early of an engine he used.
So what I am saying is his could be a good game, if he is caught up with the lastest OHR engine. Then, we'll see how the colours fly.
I just hope is does good. I like moogles.
EDITED: Moogle1 does know plotscripting, but any up to date plotscripting? |

BWAHAHAHAAA!!! Hee...no, I think he'll be alright. Though it has been a few updates since he was gone, the basic plotscripting stuff still exists, and he was pretty darn good at plotscripting.
Eh...yeah. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Sorry for missing something so blatantly obvious here, but where did Moogle1 go? _________________

*sniff* let's just say he went to a better place, Roach. I'll miss him, and I only hope one day I can see him plotscript again. |

Plotscripting is exactly the same as it ever was. There are only a few new commands that make it easier to add certain effects, like the change maptileset command.
And a game that take 7 years to make would be 7 years out of date. You would be releasing a 1996 game today.
I have NEVER seen SOJ1. I have to search through Op: OHR's gamelist. I haven't exactly been looking for it, but I haven't really been playing OHR games either. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

SOJ1 has an entry on the O:OHR gamelist. It's advertised as having the "infamous Chrono Trigger Battle System." Suspiciously, there's no demo to download. Apparently, it got hit with the "erase all the maps" bug or something. My question is, if the file was up on the web already in a zip file, how could that copy have gotten the bug? And if it was never up, then that means Fyre can't back up his statements. I'd like to see those claims backed up, Fyre. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

When I hear the words "BEST GAME EVER" I think it is more like a statement to get you curiosity going. "Is this game really the best?" That is entirely for you to decide and keep it to yourself... Um... And the name Moogle1, being that Moogles are from Final fantacy, is also good advertisment... I think... "oooooh. That guy's screen name is Moogle, which means he must like Moogles. And since I also like Moogles, what the heck!" Heh... That is all.
I am going to scope it out when I hear when it is here. I have to find SOJ too. I would like to see the games of old. And Moogle WAS a very good plotscripter from what I saw in sheep rancher and tactics (Minnek showed me) I jus' hope he still has the stuff... Memorized... Since he WAS on a religious trek...
YAY! Long live the OHR. (this statement has actually killed it. Sorry.) _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Thats the point. He didn't tell me to post this for no reason, you know.
Secondly, I have been telling him every new PS command since he has been gone.. So, yea. And there was only one update in the OHR with more than one new PS command since he has been gone anyway.

Just ask any former IG member, they saw the CTBS. I put out a post that if anybody had the uncorrupted Jade to send it back in the day, but it never got a response.
It isn't that hard to do, anyway. |
