We went north, through a wall. So, in order to go south we'd have to climb through a hole in a wall, and everyone knows wall holes are one way only.

Error, directional assignments are perfectly functional.
Perhaps I failed to explain that the directions were presented with respect to your current view.
On a view-screen too meta to theoretically exist...
Edit: That still fails to explain the existence of the north wall. Ffffff
