Should CP have a Faq/walkthrough section?
Games that typically have complete guides tend to gather more reviews.
Your opinions? Will this board become the next Septaweekly? |

(chuckles) While tempting, I have other duties for the time being. Perhaps in June, when my Mod duties at Renz terminate. No decision yet though, but I'll consider it. |

Woot. I'll help, if you need. I'd like to help with this site however I can.
P.s. I'm not slacking off on transfering the O:OHR reviews, IM hasn't PMed me back. _________________ You got film in my video game!

I think I'll post a clip from the FAQ I'm currently working on (a Suikoden II Boss FAQ) so you can see my mad FAQ writing skillz.
1. Mist Shade
Location: North Sparrow Pass
Difficulty: 1/5
Hit Points: 800
Rewards: Kindness Drops Scroll
The Mist Shade is encountered near the end of the North
Sparrow Pass. It helps to equip the Brass Armor you obtained in
the Pass on Riou. The Mist Shade has a weakness to Fire so take
this into account when fighting it. I suggest you have Riou and
Jowy attack and heal with Medicine, and use any Flaming Arrows
Scrolls you might have. When Bolgan is balanced, you should have
Rina, Eilie, and Bolgan use their Circus Unite to inflict major
damage to the Mist Shade. If Bolgan is unbalanced, have him use
Medicine on whoever is hurt the most while Eilie attacks or uses
scrolls and Rina casts Flaming Arrows or Fire Wall. As you wear
down the Mist Shade's HP, it will change form; it can take either
the form of a "woman" or a "man". The "man" has powerful physical
attacks and can attack twice a turn. The "woman" can use a
lightning bolt attack against party members. Needless to say, the
"woman" can inflict much more damage than the "man". If you never
let up while fighting the Mist Shade, however, you should be able
to kill it before it has a chance to change to the "woman" form
(it begins as a "man"). _________________

have, walkthroughs. Final Fantasy H is relatively unique to OHR in terms of length, and while your intentions are good, lets face it, your walkthrough would be the only one up there for quite awhile.
Now, if people started to send in overly complete walkthroughs for the few OHR games that needed them, well, I don't see why we couldn't open up a new section.
As for your walkthrough, Fenrir, if you like, I'm sure we could set up a link to it from its slot on the GameList. |

Good point, it's hard enough to get reviews, and Walkthroughs take moch longer to make. Honestly, from my perspective, the creator of the game is in the best position to write a faq for their game since they know the inner workings of it inside and out (or at least they SHOULD).
And FFH is only about half as long as my previous game, but that's another story. I'm currently trying to track down the walkthrough for it, but even that may take a while.
As for what you decide on to do for it... your choice. To quote from one of the Archangels, as written in Inomine: "Do what thou wilt, but be cool." |

I agree that there should be a FAQS/Walkthrough section to this website. Many games on this website are pretty extensive. From personal experience, I tend to read a little about the game first before I try it because I don't want to waste my time with a bad game. The added section would definately be an upside to this website. _________________ Kweh! |

Hmm...I dunno about the whole FAQ thing. I suppose it is helpful to have a FAQ section for games, as many games can be extensive and confusing. We already have a few FAQ sites, but I guess this would be a place where all of those dispersed FAQ's could be submitted, right? |

With the FAQS/Walkthrough sites on this web page along with the game downloads, it will be much less of hassle than switching webpages the whole time. It is also less confusing to have everything all on one web page also. _________________ Kweh! |

If the game has anything that couldn't be figured out by a chimp who has played OHR games before, it has a .txt file in the download. Hell, plenty of the ones that don't need one have them. And one of the problems is not everyone's going to make an extensive walkthrough for their games. I've seen two walkthroughs for OHR games, and that's it. Just download ones that a) have good reviews b) are popular (which means they're probably good) or c) they just look interesting on the gamelist. _________________ Preserve OHR history! I tend do agree...I mean, if the person doesn't write a review of their own game, then this review archive will just be numerous walkthroughs of the same games--the popular games. And even if there was a review for a a not well-known game, I dont think anyone would care enough to either make/read the walkthrough, especially if the review is bad (if it has one). The only thing is it could help reviewers get through a game. Most of the time, though, a walkthrough is not necessary. Just my opinion, so I dunno. |

If there's anything hidden that the author of a game wants people to know about (as the author would probably want all aspects of the game noticed), then he would more likely hint at it or just come out and say exactly what and where it is rather than make a FAQ. You don't need a degree to understand how to get through most of the game (unless it's just really, really poorly designed and full of bugs). _________________ Preserve OHR history!
