I use Windows XP and i'm trying to run custom.exe but after few seconds it freezes. I tried again but I failed. |

There could be a multitude of reasons, but my first suggestion is to try a different backend nightly to see if you can find one more compatible with your hardware. _________________

Where exactly does it freeze? There's a known bug that on some computers only, Game and Custom sometimes freeze while loading (and rarely while exiting), especially at "Loading...". Are you saying that it happened while doing something else? Try to run it a few more times, and see if it always happens.
The sdl-sdl backend might not be affected by the same problem, but it's not really stable at the moment. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

EDIT: Nightly and plain version doesn't work. It freezes in that sections where are options: New Game and Load Existing Game. |

Hmm, wow. So, it doesn't freeze the instant you get to that menu, but after a few seconds on it? Perhaps the 'ohrrpgce-wip-sdl-sdl.zip' nightly will help you. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

So game.exe never freezes, right? Only custom.exe freezes? |

Well, game.exe seems to freeze too since I haven't started any game.
Have anyone else encountered this problem once?
Waitta minute! James is supposed to be dead! How he can be there if he's dead!? Or is someone else using James' account?
PS: If that is true, kind of sad what happened to James. R.I.P.
It's kind of weird. He only cared from the marshmallow, not that he's in fire.
Or then I have no sense of humor. |

Yo!
Some suggestions to try:
1)
http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/nightly/ohrrpgce-wip-fb-silence.zip has no sound support. If your crash is being caused by music, then this one should not crash... If it still crashes, then we can safely assume that your crash is caused by something else.
2)
Do you have a joystick or gamepad attached? If so, disconnect it. Do game and custom still crash?
3)
Can you restart your computer in "Safe Mode" and see if game and custom crash? If you don't know how to use safe mode, let me know, and I will explain. |

1. No, still doesn't work.
2. I don't have any gamepads or joystick.
3. No, how?
James, you fooled me. You're not dead! |

Reboot your computer, and keep tapping the F8 key. Before the windows logo appears you should see a menu with white text on a black screen. The first choice in the menu is "Safe Mode"
In safe mode, your desktop wallpaper will be hidden, and all of your icons will be bigger. No extra software will be running, you will just have the minimum windows configuration. Internet will not work while you are in safe mode.
Try running game and custom, and see if they crash.
Then reboot your computer to get back into normal mode.

Could you confirm this?
Also, question: do you have a dual core CPU or multiple CPUs?
Another thing: can you find any files named c_debug.txt or g_debug.txt in the folder where custom.exe or game.exe is? What's in them?
-----
I have just built game.exe and custom.exe xocolatl with a build of Freebasic from SVN (a version part way to 0.21b), and also used the (supposedly, but in my experience not) multithreading-safe library for custom, which was surprisingly not being used. Please try it out.

James, still I say that even if it could be world's best invention, i believe that wouldn't work still unless God comes and tells me that is true.
Will OHRRPG still run without errors after using Safe Mode?
I think i try first your OHRRPGCE program.
NOTE: Your version of OHRRPGCE crashes too. And about CPUs..... Kinda stupid, but I'm not a computer expert. Dunno what CPU. |

If game and custom work without crashing in safe mode, then that means that the crash is probably being caused by some other program that runs in the background in normal mode.
If game and custom crash in safe mode, then that narrows down the possible causes of the crash. |
