The random pencil line o' doom: I've been getting that one for a long time.

If I remember right, I first noticed this using the Windows version of Hasta la QB; it only happens in windowed mode (I've never seen it after starting out in windowed and then switching to fullscreen.) It seems to show up much less in Ubersetzung and Werewaffle than it did in Hasta la QB.

Like TwinHamster says, it only happens with the Pencil tool, though I don't think I've ever seen it use oddball colors (it's usually white or skin-toned, but then, I usually have both in every palette I use.)

Can somebody see if using the spacebar to open a sprite (instead of enter) has anything to do with it? I'm on a school computer at the moment.

Aha! I think I know what is going on. The pencil tool actually draws a tiny line between the current mouse x/y and the previous mouse x/y. On the very first tick in the sprite editor, the previous x/y value is probably zero, which would explain the line to the top left corner.

What I don't understand is why it is difficult/inconsistent to reproduce.

I tried to get it to happen just now: went to a blank walkabout and pushed the spacebar. ESC'ed, move the mouse, spacebar'ed again. Every time (except once, oddly) I got a single gray dot instead of the glitchy line.

And then, the very first time I tried it on the hero sprite editor, I got the random gray line.

Seems like switching from walkabout to hero editors makes it show up, somehow; from what I can see it happened exactly the same way to me as it did to Twinhamster (same color, too--first one after the transparent block.)

Thanks for the help! You can stop testing now, I've figured out exactly how to trigger it.
