One thing I didn't like about the Timestream Saga is the battle graphics. Did you base them all off of Terra (maybe Celes) or something? The reason I ask is, well... Kyle had a rather large chest for a guy...

Didn't FFH rip the maptiles as well? If not, then I guess they just looked exactly like FF6's. At least you rip better than a lot of people Fen, 'cos TS1's tiles at least looked good, and I'm not exactly sure FFH's were ripped...

FFH ripped tiles from FF1&2 WSC versions, Secret of Mana, Makaitoushi SaGa (WSC), FF4, and TS1 (!). There are no sections in which tiles from FF5 or 6 appear at all, so for the record, FF6 tiles are not used.

Oh, okay. What's WSC? Is that referring to Origins? If so, I think most of those graphics were basically the same as FF6. Well, whatever they came from, they look alot like FF6's.

You did a good job ripping them, though, since all of them fit together. Most times I see ripped graphics, they're usually done without any effort...

WSC = Wonderswan Color. It was another one of them handheld systems that Japan doesn't think we're worthy of possessing. Squaresoft remade a couple of final fantasy games for the system, including FF1, 2, and 4j.

I don't understand how you can think that the graphics are based off Terra, or ripped from FF6. They look nothing at all alike. Terra's sprites are around 24x16, where Kyle's sprites are like 26x38. Anyways, WSC stands for Wonderswan Color. And yes it somewhat refers to Origins. Origins is pretty much a WSC port of the games.
Edit: Fawk sephy beat me to it. Anyways, they also made FF3 on the WSC, but they never finished. Since the GBA came out they're finishing it on that.

Well actually to tell you the truth I rip off most of my graphics because I am not good at making them. You know my Werebear Nudy on my Urban Fantasy Topic? Ripped it off Tales of Phantasia. Of course I had to work on it to make it look good, and to my liking. I use a lot of graphics from Romancing Saga 3, FF6, FF5, FF4, FF2, FF1, yeah, you get it. But, the Final Bosses will have mostly Original Graphics. I took Tzenker from Seiken Densetsu 3.

Now I think this is a semi-good idea, for all of the above reasons.

I'd rather play a game with dirt poor graphics than good-looking ripped ones, unless the game itself was horrible. Then I wouldn't play it at all.

If you aren't strict when it comes to playing and critiquing other games, what's to suddenly make you change your mind regarding your own project? It carries over into your own game design and game creation skills, and that is one reason why I am strict on the games I review and play, and why there are very few OHR games that I truly enjoy. The same goes for commercial RPGs.

Yeah, I generally don't like ripped graphics, either. Even if they look good, I'll still mark it down for not being original.

I just don't take RPGs seriously. Basically the only reason I'll play them is to have fun and a laugh or two. However, if I were reviewing games and whatnot, I'd approach it differently.

When I'm looking to make good graphics, I hardly ever study OHR games, with the exception of Fenrir's games. Otherwise, I look at SNES games.

*cough* As for Madhatter's site, those NPC's actually are pretty well done.

I hate ripped graphics more than anything...ever. I don't mind someone who looks at a picture of the sprite and manipulates it (or should I say, learning by doing), but if you just import it you should be shot.

FFH I only had problems with the gameplay, not the graphics (for the record). If you are going to rip, RIP LIKE THAT. Ha ha. But not ripping is the best.

Yeah...ripping is teh s uck. I really liked Powerstickman (ok, kinda off topic) because its graphics were so amazingly unique...same with Walthros...

So yeah. Party on dudes.

Problem with FFH's graphics: The battle graphics. Their legs were too long (or arms too short; it looked like he lengthened the legs to proper proportion, but left the arms alone, in which case leaving them as they were would have been the best option) and looked really bad. The exceptions are, of course the "Anthros", as they were completely original.
