Yeah, I'm doing the morally ambiguous one for Knights of the Realm. You see I had this whole idea for the Metheyar (Nín-Hartoth, "Horse-people", they're Centaurs) and their opponents, the "Dark Horsemen" (for lack of a better term). I eventually decided that they would only be called the Dark Horsemen by the Metheyar and were a group that was formally a part of the Metheyar.
Rhyfa, eventually exiled from the Metheyar when she becomes human (and she was their ruler, too), realizes that the "Dark Horsemen" weren't all that bad after seeing them from a different perspective, but then they'll go and teach her that this new perception isn't necessarily right, either. The Metheyar are basically going to be portrayed as rather corrupt as well, as I think it would be interesting to have two groups fighting each other while neither being right. |

Speaking of bosses that may appear to be the good guys, but have some evil temptation lurking inside them, what about those who are obviously posessed by one, and near the end of the game they are liberated.
I think maby well meaning, but often misunderstood should be one too. Like a mad scientist, or a guy who keeps messing things up. You fight, kill, and then finally realize that he didnt mean to mess things up.
Or how about The-Evil-Hooded-Guy-Who-Lurks-In-The-Shadows-And-Secretly-Plots-The-Downfall-Of-The-Main Hero-As-A-Hobby (as one)? That one was actually inspired by Minnek.
Then there are the Doubtfull villains, who actually want to be your friend, but dont think you can run with the crowd. Eh? Ok, me will shut up now... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

True; as I stated before, fbosses that are actually "good" in more than one way (besides the way you "want" them to be) because then you have to decide whether or not your morals are greater than theirs... _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

In ORBituaries, I had a bored antagonists. He basically woke up one day and said "I think I'm going to take over the world..." An interesting/mild humorous polt device, but really pretty stupid, in hindsight... |

How about an antagonist who is being forced into doing it by ransom or some other form of blackmail? Forgive me if this idea has already been said; if it has, I must have missed it going through. The whole Zemus/Golbez thing in FF4j is somewhat similar to this, except that was manipulation, not forcing choice. (...hard to explain the difference for me. Direct and indirect manipulation, I suppose.)
Also, perhaps a different form of what LeRoy said, an antagonist who doesn't realize that he's hindering you while he's trying to accomplish his own goals? This might have been said too, and if so, I apologize. (Just runnin' my thoughts through here, y'know?) Something like with the Elves and the laboratory in Lufia II is what I think of. They're trying to advance technology for the common good (or something), yet their factory is polluting the areas around it, which makes them "evil" to the Elves.
Them's my two cents. Sorry if I just reiterated anyone's ideas. _________________ * SDHawk has joined #Minnek
