Jabbercat, jabbercat, wherefore art thine bloody common sense jabbercat?
*shakes head*
If you are going to spend three years making a 130mb game, why oh why didnt you spend matybe half that time learning to program competently in c/c++ or at least visual basic, and then use an engine like blitz basic to make the game? Or even use verge? I mean, you use that 1 1/2 years productively, and by the end of it, you have a game that:
*Can support higher res graphics
*Can make use of more frames in walkabouts
*Make a custom battle system
*Have decent music (I mean, no offence guys but bam sucks)
Think about that next time you embark on a project like that. _________________ What cruel person decided lisp should have an s in it? |

Yeah I suppose so buut C++ isnt gonna work , but Listen all I have found a way to make the OHR interact with files in a folder! so I can have nice wave music! and even use nice big graphics! but dont forget that every time someone tries anouther engine than the ohr Bob get's a pay cut!

Sorry, but what was that? Last time I checked the OHR had absolutely no input/output capabilities other than the save files, so how could you get it to work with external files?
Only way I can see is to alter the actual code of game.exe. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

Interesting.... I'd thought about it, and one way you can get wav music to play is if you start off your game with another program, and then while the OHR is running, this other program plays music/sound in the background...
oh wait, someone said the sound doesn't work if something else is playing?
But anyway, the only way you could change the music, etc, is if that external program reads the OHR's data in memory, eg. the values of globals, and changes the music/sound effects accordingly.
But if you can code that, why on earth would you use the OHR?!? _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

three years!?
i would've finished my high school education in that time (about to do that anyway) and i'm learning c++ as is...
oh well, ohr is still good to use for practice and the lot, i mean hamsterspeak isn't too dis-similar to c++ in the way of format and commands (in a sense). _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

But unless you have all the gfx still in bmp! In which case ou have a 260 MB folder sitting on your disk...
You don't want to send me a copy on CD- I live in NZ, so the shipping costs will.... well...... make me snigger when the CD arrives.
Yep, HS is more structured then BASIC- QBasic is full of different statements and functions with the same name, never uses brackets to show flow control, and depending on the statement/function does or doesn't use brackets to pass arguments to it. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
