1)My mistake, I apologise. I'm unfamiliar with english wording as I said previously... I may mislead and confuse with my sentences... sad part of not being born within the boundaries of the "international language".
2)I thought you were saying these as part of the topic. As it turns out, you were refering to Moogle's post which means once again I apologize for my false assumption
3)It is an over-used idea indeed, but this is the very point I was stressing on. There are various ways to propose special skills. In the design thread Jordy, I gave an example of a hero that is a shapeshifter of sorts. That, is also a skill. In fact, such a skill opens up a variety of options because it is up to you to use your current fight command or postpone one turn to change to a shape that might have more suitable answers against the monster. This, of course, is even better when the various shapes he can shift into are NOT elemental driven (because then, you would end up always choosing the fire elemental against enemies made of wood, etc). The idea of shapeshifting into a rock golem with high defense for example, gives a good option I believe, especially if all shapes are very different, and the main character is rather weak.

Uh... I wasn't telling you it was a bad thing, I was telling you that people actually try to give characters some sort of special ability, even if it is boring. I was telling you that your suggestion of doing something other than the fight command was redundant in the first place.

Now you are saying that giving characters skills is overdone. I'm getting sick of this crap.

Also, the only reason people haven't done shapeshifting in the OHR engine is because it isn't really possible at the moment. Even Chaotix wanted to have a character that changed shape, if I recall correctly.

And I said I'd be looking over the entire code as soon as I get a second, and try to make a patch that might be able to enable this...

Ok...

But let's talk about this "Skills are overused" BS. I know you hate how games like Darkmoor Dungeon use only FF skills, but now you just decided that skills in general are overused.

Is pressing down then space to access a menu then selecting what your character wants to do such a bad thing to you?

In the Ohrrpgce, "fight" is simply the action associated with the currently equipped weapon. This gives it a lot of flexibility: you don't have to make them actually 'weapons', you can have a game where the first action is a technique, and that technique depends on what technique-item they have equipped (some ideas: steal, jump, defense up, heal, etc.).

Darnit, Rinku. You ruined the challenge given to J.A.R.S of figuring this out. >_<

my sentence structured must've been flawed. When I said :
3)It is an over-used idea indeed, but this is the very point I was stressing on.
I meant that although it is overly used, this is what I am DEFENDING as in, I think that character skills are not overrated! Which is why I was puzzled at your last two replies which seemed to believe that I was meaning the opposite. I love character skills, I want more. So its not a bad thing for me, not at all.

Alright then.

If it helps, try to use as simple wording as possible. "It is used a lot, but that is a good thing" instead of trying to use "overused, stressed, etc..."

Play Live a Live.

There is no "fight" command in it, it's all skills. Made it one of my favorite games of all time.

I played it, it was interesting, but after playing one quest, I wasn't much appealed by the others... feels like alot of "mini games" rather than one large epic rpg, but the mechanics are interesting I agree.

You didn't play long enough.

It all comes together at the end. The payoff is there.

There is nothing cooler than ninjas and robots.

Heck, Metal Gear Solid combined them into ONE CHARACTER! The coolness was only overcome by Solid Snake.
