Well, drawing and planning is all good and fun, but doing 300 pages of both combined for one game without even opening the RPG... makes me think whether i'm in a slump or just trying to cram all these ideas into one game...

Hey, cramming stuff into a game is just fine and dandy, but don't just meerly cram it in, find clever ways to make it work. Heck, that's what I did. And then after you stop and look at all your ideas you've sketched out you can pick at least one or two good ones you can really build on. Drawing is a key part though, because it brings your thoughts onto paper, if only we could draw graphics and then import em we'd be all set, but eh, I've learned to adjust with what I got.

I agree with RMZ. It's liking writing, you must first plan your game out and organize it, rather than throwing all of your ideas in one game. Then it doesn't flow.

It would be swell if hamsterwheel (whenever century it is released) could support jpg and gif. That way one could just scan in concept drawings as actual backgrounds and sprites!

Couldn't one just convert those jpgs and gifs into bmps?

surprisingly I tried converting a photo of a friend into hero graphics for the ohr, it was painstakingly slow...
First off I had to color the whole picture in black, (transparancy) then
I had to shrink the picture to the right dimensions without making it look stretched. on top of that I had to convert it to greyscale and then add the palette colours in manually.

In the end alot of facial details were lost, but the body shape was very realistic, granted that it was over 600% smaller than the original.

Well, of course you're not going to keep the quality when converting. You should have known that when you set off on this endeavor.

You should be able to convert it straight into the palette colours without having to recolour the picture...

But your lucky if you got anything that looked like the original... whenever I do something like that, I generally end up with a deformed mess :S

Was asking PH. I want to see a screen of this graphic, for curiosity's sake.

download my crappy Adventures of Alzo Mckeon game...
edit it with custom... (don't worry there's no password)
goto the hero stats menu...
now check out the "mussle man" hero(s)
it was a photo of a Dalek head on top of a nieghbours body.
I ended up halfing the picture and then making an a-symetrical
image to fit in properly. It looks bad, since I made a few mistakes
in coloring in the mussle tones.
