First off, I just want to say, Bliss finally got reviewed! Woo hoo! You rule, Shadowiii!
Ok, now that that's off my chest, there's a few things I want to talk about in regard to the review.
Quote: | I'm sure I've heard SOME of those songs before |
Nope, all the songs are original. Just wanted to clear that up.
Quote: | It is very obvious to me that graphics are Camdog's weakness |
Heh. What can I say? When you're right, you're right.
Quote: | Enemies are amazingly difficult, there is no "Inn" area (which is good for the story, bad for the gameplay), and items are sparse. Weapons each are unique, but don't add much overall to help the bad battles. If you are lucky you might survive the first dungeon, but you'll probably be killed in the next one.

Ok, it seems obvious to me that gameplay is a major problem spot of the game. Everyone who's commented about Bliss has mentioned it as a negative aspect (boy am I glad I released it without a password). Nonetheless, it really confuses me as to why people find it so hard. I promise it can be beaten, and it can be done even without major difficulties. In fact, after I released the 'easy' version, I was sure people would hate it for being too easy. Granted, I was the only one who playtested it, which I suppose was a mistake since I know how to do it perfectly...
Anyway, here's my question: would it be possible to tell me in more detail how you handled the fights? This would help expose weak points in the character's special abilities and make it easier for me to fix the difficulty thing.
I guess that's about all I want to say. Thanks for the review. I enjoyed it and it made a number of really good points (the window is definitely going on the top wall and not the side in the next version. I can't believe I didn't think about that!) I'm really glad you enjoyed the game, too. |

Well, really, if it's hard and you have to think about what you're doing, wouldn't that make it good gameplay? |

Uncommon - NO. Play the game and you'll see what I mean.
Camdog- I THOUGHT it was all original. But I didn't want to sound really stupid when someone came up to me and said "hey, that song was from Lufia or some game you haven't played." I almost did that on the Partisan Legacy Review...
As for the fighting, I tried quite a few methods. First was to just attack and heal(bad, I got slaughtered). Then I tried out various spells, but I ran out of MP (enemies tend to do more damage then I do), so...dead. Then I tried a mixed bag of both (using the Death spell a lot because I was angry) but I still kept dying. After I cheated I discovered "explode," so maybe I was supossed to use that or something...grah.
The battles are TOO LONG TOO HARD, strictly speaking. I was talking to CN about this and he said that he quit after the first battle because it took so long to beat. So...yeah. That is about it. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |
