or even if you didn't, this is highly worth checking out.
(not to mention that I spent the time to do this)

it's a parody, of sorts, of the matrix, but it pokes fun at many other things as well. don't worry, it's not a horrendously long game.

The battles are great too. Forget regular sized battle gfx. I'm talking 3x the regular size.
how many parodies can you count? :flamedevil:

Don't believe me? then check it out.... matricx.rpg

posted in the game list here as matricx.zip, also in hamster republic.

Yeah, I try to make my games very funny, but with simple OHR, it’s pretty hard to do it. I mean, I could make a smash hit movie about my stories, but it’s still had. VG humour just doesn’t amuse me.

Anyway, the Matrix would make a cool game, if presented right. I love the Matrix. It’s such an awesome film. If I like this game, cheers to you. I hope that it’s not stupid.

Don't blame James for something you can't do yourself. I say the reason you can't make anything funny, Eggie, is because you've already given up.

Byako, that looks like a lot of fun. I'll have to grab it and try it out.

well, I hope no one is too dissappointed then, since this may very well be considered stupid. but it's supposed to be, since it's a parody.

as you can see from this shot, the gfx are not too shabby. And, that's a shot of a battle.

Don't worry, it's not horrendously long.

enjoy!

Byako--

This game is amazing. It's short, maybe even a little too short, but easily the best parody since the last parody. All I can say is genius, even if zero (lowercase on purpose?) is not too bright.

Clever spin on the old school battle screen. I think many of us haven't really tried to do anything like that yet (or at least no one has fessed up to it yet).

I have a feeling some of the jokes may go over some people's heads, but those who get it will laugh hysterically. My favorite line of course would have to be:

agent orange: surprised to see me, mr. ampersand?

Had me rolling.

The only thing I think should be different is in the graphic style. This wouldn't be a perfect Matrix parody without that ugly digital green tint that the real Matrix has. You may want to try dipping your tilesets in a greenish filter and see how they look on screen. If they work, you may want to rerelease it with new authenticity.

And those are my comments.

For everyone else, the game only takes about twenty to thirty minutes, so you should have time to check it out. I recommend it.

Nice job, Byako. I may have to put this on my to-be-reviewed list.

Very nice, Byako. Entertaining, put together nicely . . . a bit easy, perhaps, but that doesn't really matter, since difficulty is not a factor in a parady game (unless you're parodying an insanely hard game). The little custom battle system bit was quite cool, and, amazingly, lacked any bugs that I could find. I especially liked how you did the jumping damage indicators with the NPCs. The dialogue, while possessing some errors here and there, was well-written. I actually laughed at points, which is a definite plus with me. I also played this game through without getting bored once, which is amazing, even for a short game.
Overall, excellent job.

1. the lowercase-on purpose..
2. ease of play. simple, and short-to get to the main joke at the end .
3. the jokes-hey, if you get the jokes, great. if not, well.....
4. the gfx. i'm surprised i didn't think of the green filter, we shall see...
5. jumping hp counter-that was an accident. i wanted it to act as an odometer, but forgot to place an overhead tile. i liked the jumping effect better.
6. length. i didn't want to drag it into the ground.
