I have an rpg file I duplicated, and I want to erase a lot of the information from it, such as text boxs, items, tags, entire maps, ect. (not just manually reset everything so it is blank. ~I don't want a file with 500 blank textbox's)

is there a way to do this?

Yes. You can either hack the WORKING.TMP folder (MCW has a guide on how to do this) or use the CTRL+BACKSPACE feature to delete all records after a selected one...for example, if you want to delete all text boxes, go to text box 0 and hit CTRL+BACKSPACE and hit yes to delete them all. This works for most things.

CTRL+BACKSPACE does not work on maps, however.

maps are stuck there, you can erase the data for the map, but it's stuck there.
you could always transfer what you do want into a fresh *.rpg copy
by using the said guide.

Yes, there are certain files in there (when you unlump and RPG file) you can copy across, but i'm not entirely sure which are which. As for the question at the top, the bad guys are usually cooler, but they always lose, and the heroes are really cool, and always win, but the bad guys are WAY cooler, so yeah, the bad guy.

That should help.

Just to make sure I understand,

with the maps, for example---
Quote:
.T## tilemap for map ##
.P## passability (wallmap) for map ##
.E## enemy positions (foemap) for map ##
.D## door positions form map ##
.L## NPC locations for map ##
.N## NPC definitions for map ##
.DOR Obsolete doorlinks. Feel free to delete it from your RPG
.DOX Real doorlinks

I would need to delete the related items from each of these files, like, everything after .P02, .E02, .D02, .L02, ect...

Also, thanks Aethereal and Uncommon, for the ctrl backspace idea. That may be all I need.

If you delete map data from each map you don't want, it would probably have the same effect as deleting all of those files.
