We need a game design usergroup with some kind of entry requirement. It's not that the game design forum that we have is completely terrible- it's just overcluttered with beginner-level posts and most of the more serious members of the community avoid reading the posts there.
I dunno, it could be a bad idea though. Nobody really posts (anything interesting) in user group forums, anyway (At least, the ones that I am in).

Actually it seems that when the more advanced designers post something, it's drowned out by bad suggestions and off topic posts. That and the 'elite' don't seem to post. |

A usergroup with an especially vicious administrator (like CN) would certinaly help filter out all the sucky possibilities...
It sounds like a good idea, as long as they don't let the noobs in. Maybe we'd have a "trial by fire" before someone could come in...heh. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Well, if you think more people would be more motivated to post in an exclusive game design forum than in the current "public" one, by all means go ahead. However, I see nothing wrong with the current game design forum. _________________ im realy ded |

This idea is completely ambivillous... Meaning that it has good and bad effects. Don't you think you should let the lesser game designers veiw your ideas? Was CP not at least partially created to help not-so-good game designers get better? Their need for tips is far greater than the elites. Maybe make it so they can read only unless they qualify as a member. No matter what you decide is ok though... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I dunno. I see where you're coming from, but at the same time this idea strikes me as extremely elitist. All the folks not allowed to join would feel excluded and thus become unhappy with the community. Besides, who would decide who's allowed in and who isn't? Sure, it doesn't need to be fair because it's a private usergroup, but regardless it'd be divisive. I can see a newbie coming to CP, seeing some hierarchy like this in effect, and deciding to go with rpgmaker instead. Like it or not, newbies are essential for maintaining an online community, so I don't know how I feel about something designed specifically to exclude them. |

How about looking at it the other way around. Make a newbie question forum... _________________

I know that since I don't really make games, I probably wouldn't be allowed in an advanced game design usergroup; but I would take some comfort in knowing that Leroy_Leo and Junahu would also never be in said usergroup. _________________
