Hi. Long time no post. Anyway..finally got some time to screw around with Painter, and managed to throw this together. Did some experimenting and made this desktop out of characters of a long-delayed game of mine. Just wanted what people think of this 'new' techinque. Any irks or just questions, bring it here. And yes, that is Vera if anyone can remember who she is. Oh by the way, I also need guesses on how old the blue girl is, see if anyone can get it right.

PS: This a pretty BIG image(880k) just to warn ya.
Watercolor-ish

Really cool work, Veld. I'd give it my highest compliments, but I probably can't get away with crap like that on the forums (Though anyone who wants to hear, can come to IRC, or send me guesses as to what it is in PM), so I'll just say that it's excellently shaded, and the style is quite appealing. The eyes especially seemed to pop out at me as really well done. The girl on the left I recognize from your previous work, but the person on the right, I've never seen before. I can't quite tell if it's a man or a woman, but the hair and clothing would suggest woman. The style's good, regardless of what it is. Damn fine job on the whole piece.

*Sigh* I need Painter and a tablet Crying

Anyhoo... critique time! Ha ha ha!

The picture is very well done. You're consistant with the light source (something that even professional artists fail to do), and the overall composition is really nice. I like how you avoided highlights on some pieces of clothing, and did on others. That gave the non-highlighted areas look more like regular fabric. Nice choice of colours, too. Very soft, and, well, watercolor-ish!

There are a few specific things that you could touch up on. The blue girl's left shoulder--looks kinda funky. The folds on the girl's dress dont seem right also. Try taking some sheets or blankets and using them as reference for folds. Lastly, the perportions for the people dont seem to fit. For the blue haired girl, it makes her look childish and cute, so it works for her... but the other girl, she looks like a 11 year-old with implants (but, then again, I'm not really into cutesy anime, so that's probably why it bugs me Oookay... )

Humm... i think that's all from me! Nice work, and hope to see more of your stuff
