I am going to blow up the world! Argh!
Now that I have that out of my system, let me get to the point. I had written several nice paragraphs on hidden characters in a game I was making. They (the paragraphs) vanished when I tried to preview them. I'll get to the point quick this time.
In the game I'm working on, I want to include some hidden party members. Now, unlike in many games with hidden party members, these characters will be important to the story, in that, at certain plot points, the action switches from the main party to the hidden one, so as to increase tension and deepen the story. However, this would only happen if the main party had take time to find and meet the members of the hidden one. I like this idea. I think it rewards those who take time to explore (and therefore want to see all the game has to offer) with a deeper story. But then again, it penalizes those who just stick to the main plot. I love any feedback on this idea. _________________ "The character sheet is mighter than the sword!" - The Red Mage

I say go for it. I was really disappointed that Vincent Valentine didn't have a bigger part in the "Getting Hojo" part of FF7, myself. |

Sounds cool. Just keep one thing in mind though: From making .hack//OHR with characters that you can optionally add to your party who actually are vital to the storyline, just make sure to be careful during dialogue that a character doesn't NEED to say something when they might not be in the party to say it.
Heh. I still think at some point in making that game, I'm going to run into a problem with that. _________________
