As said in the subject bar, Why does anyone need a windows key on the keyboard?

Here I am putting maptiles into a map and I accidentally push the window's button. (The thing that looks like the windows logo). So the computer restarts and I have to turn my unlumped RPG file into a BAK file. But then, the BAK file confuses itself with the backup file from windows movie maker and I can't rename it back to an RPG File! Then I have no choice but to start all over again. Crying

This stuff is pure evil, EVIL! Pissed off! [b[/b][/img]

It sounds like you have Hide Known Extensions turned on.

That option pisses me the hell off because it stops you from
actually renaming a files extention sometimes.

Either drop to a Dos Box and use rename (but then you have
to mess with long file names) or turn the option off.

In Windows 2000 the option is in any folder. Check the tools
menu and choose Folder options. On the view tab look for
Hide Known File Extentions.

However, if you aren't the only one using the computer you
may want to be careful as the other users can muck their files
up if they aren't paying attention.

Also, I know it worked under 95/98 however never tested it
elsewhere but there was a program that would allow you to
turn off the windows key/pop-up menu key. It would be
nice to have the option in a menu in Windows, maybe they added
one lately.

Your windows button restarts your computer? Mine just pops the start menu up.

As does mine. It does get annoying when you are programming items and such and you stretch your finger for ALT, and accidentally hit the windows key. But never restarting the computer...
