Character portraits, two or three times larger than they'll appear in-game. Not quite sure whether I like the backgrounds. I'm going to add shading.

Anyway, you should be able to figure out who these kids are. Comments on the art style welcome.

Kain, these are the profile pics you saw on paper, only more colorful!

Anyone who's played the first Mageclash and is wondering, the remake/sequel will have lots of playable characters -- 11 or 12 at last count.

Distinct and quaint. Not too bad (gradient abuser!!) Your style is pretty unique, like a demi-SD/Kid Cartoon thing to it. Also you have had more of the cleaner outline/inkings that most of the ones Ive seen around here.

OK, I tweaked the backgrounds. I like these a lot better.

Note that these profiles are larger versions of what will appear in the actual game. They'll even retain their color depth!

Comments are welcome.

Only thing I don't like are the eyes (Maybe a little bigger or more distinct?). I love the no shading approach. Bad shading spoils almost all decent pictures

The color choice is really good.
I'm not digging the style, but everyone else likes it so I'm sure thats just me.
The backrounds look good with textures.
I don't think you should add shading. Someting tells me shading wouldn't fit in.

So mageclash will have final fantasy characters? This interests me.

Mageclash always had FF characters. See the old version, in which the main characters are not as obviously FF, but the summons are.

I have no scanner at work (that I know of) so I can't really post any of my MageClash conceptial art I've drawn. But I have drawn some.

This includes:
White Mage
Red Mage
Black Mage
Summoner (I still don't see the logic of a non-mage class, so I didn't draw any yet)
New spell graphics. (new spells, too)
New levels graphics. (new levels, too)
Character animation frame outlines. (I want pretty smooth animation)
Mics designs for new features. (such as equippable Magitek armor in the Magitek Lab a la Mega Man X.)

Along with many many other ideas (which I have only drawn, not even talked to the Moogle about yet).

Yes we do have a scanner at work, Shaede.

Its over by the credit card machine. If you cant figure out how to make paintshop pro import using it, you can try to use photoshop. In the file menu go to import, then choose the subselection twain32. It will automatically open the scanner program and make a preview scan. From there you can box off the part you want it to take.

Err, hope Eci lets you use the scanner... lol . See you at work tommorow. ^_^

In that case I'll get something ready to scan tomorrow. Happy

New... spells? No dragoon? No paladin? No moogle?

OK, I'll look at your spells, but the others are logically cool and have to be in the game. Smokin'

With smooth animation, I can logically animate mages through pallette swaps and minor alterations to the sprites. Let me give you an example of what I mean:

Global Animations
Standing: 1 frame
Walking animation: 6 frames
Hurt animation: 3 frames
Jumping animation: 3 frames
Duck animation: 1 frame
Death animation: 1 additional frame

Class Specific Animations
Casting animation: 4 frames
Attack animation: 4 frames

So with a White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, and Summoner, thats a grand total of: 47 frames of animation.

You want a Dragoon, Paladin, and Moogle, right?
Thats an additional 23 frames of animation per character, which will bring the grand total instead to: 116 frames of animation.

I have other reasons too, of course, but I'd rather discuss it in person. I'm sure we've both had ideas in our heads for years on how the game is going to end up, so its probably best to share all those ideas.
