Tarma wasn't hard to add in. Then again, I hope people don't blame me for laziness; they should blame the makers of Metal Slug 1 for making them have the exact same body.
EDIT: Eri and Fio added. You might have to ctrl+F5 because of replaced images.
EDITER: Trevor and Nadia added. What, you've never played Metal Slug 4? _________________

Now I'm experimenting with maptiles and outlines. Seriously now, kids, look at the bottom-most picture there and tell me which ones look better. I'm thinking of using the outlined ones because of the bright background (Trevor's hair blends with the sky, and the girls' legs blend with the sand/dirt)
EDIT: *puts a sock puppet over hand* "Hi Machu!" Oh, hello, I thought nobody was ever going to respond to this. "You should totally use the outlined sprites." Oh, okay I will.
EDIT, BECAUSE I STILL CARE ABOUT THIS PROJECT: Grunt added. Now I should get to work with animation frames and such. _________________

Wow... very nice sprites! Cant find anything that's wrong with them. They remind me of something... but I cant quite put my finger on what it is... oh well!
Personally, I'd choose not to put the black outline because they blend with the background. I know it sounds strange, but i think it looks better bbecause the characters can blend into the environment. If there was a black outline, it would give the sprites unnecessary contrast, making it look like it was pasted on or something. For example... Take a look at the picture on the bottom in the page. The ones with black outlines look like... well... sprites. It's boring. If you look at the ones without outlines, the sprites look like it's a part of the picture. To me, that looks better.
Whether or not you use the outlines are up to you. I'm just giving my two-cents |

Alright, here's a new comparison: The left (and middle, I think) sprite has no outline, but if you look closely, I darkened the color of his gear/pants. The right sprite has an outline and brighter colors. The darker colors include black, so an outline makes it ugly. However, I prefer the darker colors and no outline now. Any objections? _________________

looks good, my only objection is that... his head seems to have faded into the background a bit...
for that reason, i'm kinda going for the black outline one. _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

I still prefer the non-outlined one. |

I'm sure the blending effect will be reduced once they animate, so I'll work without outlines for a while. I'll just need to change a few colors. _________________

ah, yeah... animating would eliminate most of the blanding.
go with no outline, mainly coz you're walkabouts don't need them _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

If you check the previous post, I have updated the colors of some characters and also added 2 of my own completely original characters: Conner and Sochi! _________________

It's funny you should mention that: if this game became popular, I had another spin-off planed incorporating lots of famous characters like Spike, Wolfwood, Gordon Freeman and Serious Sam. It was going to implement unique weapon sets for each character, they would each have a unique ability (Spike can throw enemies with his Jeet Kun Do, Wolfwood can block with the Cross Punisher, etc.), and I would implement melee-characters (like Himura Kenshin and Obi-Wan Kenobi). But I'm getting ahead of myself; I've barely implemented the movement script so far. I still need to work the bugs out of that, implement guns, then enemies, then make an actual game out it.
I'm glad you people dig the sprites. _________________
