How does the community feel about authors reviewing their own game? I have thought about putting in a review of my game, but is there anything I should or should not do? Right now I look at each of the parts of the game, talk about what I like and don't like about them, while explaining what it is I wanted to achieve. Is a game review really the place to do this kind of thing? |

I've done it twice, with FFH and TS1.
Since the grade you give it will have no impact on the game's avg score, whatever you put is of no consequence. Your idea to talk about what you liked and disliked is also a good idea, and was one of the arguments I made that would allow authors to review their own games. |

Just be careful not to over promote your game, if you do it will not be accepted. I tried once a while back...not going back. _________________ Gyu, Doh! |

I wanted to write my own review for my Zelda game, but I didn't want to rock the boat anymore than I already had done. If I ever do make a review for my game It'd be to explain the game more in depth and maybe give a few hints. I'd leave the question of how good the game is to the rest of CP. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

In my opinion, author reviewing his own games??? That's quite lousy thing to do. Preview is not bad, it might be even neccessary, but review. I think reviews are needed to leave to other players. It's criticism for heavens sake. Self-criticism... It doesn't to belong in gaming world. Mostly... |

But it might be good thing to do sometimes. After all, if people examines, what they did wrong in their last games, they can avoid hose blunders in upcoming games of them. So actually my comment about self-criticism was wrong. |

When I reviewed Halloween Quest, I tried my best to talk about the good and the bad things. However, I think it's a great thing to review your own game. It's like a director's commentary or something. _________________ ---------------Projects----

To me, this is merely the difference between a review and an author's note. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...
