Now remember, this ain't no goddamned free show. I'm not saying you have to submit content, heck I'd prefer if you didn't. Also you don't have to pay for it. I mean it's not a free show because it's your job to make sure there's something interesting enough to write about. This issue is pretty skimpy because the most interesting thing since the Human Day contest was the Zoidberg game. The Human Day contest isn't in there because it was over a month ago, I'd prefer to keep this as current as possible.

The title is Weekly Republic, but don't let that fool you. It's not once a week, it's once every INTERESTING week. I'm not gonna do a feature on anything as small as Crescent Dream being updated with a slightly fancier outfit for the hero. Only original games or major updates will get to be the featured game and only people who are interesting will get to be interviewed.

So anyway, eat it up bitches. Make the second issue worth writing or else I just won't do it.

If you like you can handle the review section for the next issue. I'll announce in public so I can perhaps have a guest reviewer each issue. My rules for reviews: The games reviewed have to have come out less than a month and prior of the issue's release and the reviews have to be pictures that summarize the quality and/or mood of the game. So Magnus would be, say, a picture of a turd or a guy being punched in the face, or better yet, a guy being punched in the face with a turd. Walthros ROTC could be something absurd like a picture of Mayor McCheese, or... a picture of Mayor McCheese being punched in the face... with a turd. Something great like, oh, I don't know, let's say as a random example... I Made Dis, it would be a picture of a beautiful woman with no clothes on or just a picture of my face. Keep it somewhat PG-13 though, I want it to be at least somewhat safe for work and not get people in trouble with their parents for looking at porn.

Hey, that is the funniest OHRnewsie I've read ever! Well done on a random first issue.

And I have an idea! The only reason I'm suggesting this is because I want to do it, but I thought maybe other's would like it as well. What if you had a different member of the community design a cover each time it's published? It would make for a varied design! And I'd be more than happy to contribute for one, I dunno about anyone else though!

Well, I think it's a good idea, I hope you do too.

I won't be accepting reader submissions too often. Now and then I'll take an article or ask someone in particular to create something, but for the most part I want to keep this small and tight under my control. I want to control the mood and feel of the magazine and give each one a solid theme. This time it looks kind of like I Made Dis the Magazine, but for the next issue I'm thinking of something along the lines of the pre-Nintendo Power publications, something like Namco Weekly, full of watercolored illustrations for a specific game and a comic that gives hints and advice on it. Now and then I'll have people help, but usually too many people involved would make the theme less consistent.

I wish Harlock would release Thanatos, that would make a perfect featured game.

I like it, Gil. I almost like it more for how short it is. I do wish there were more variety within the sections, though -- more quotes from Zoidberg players, for example, or more reviews in that section.

Nothing else in the new releases really felt interesting enough to review. I'm not gonna have any D+ to B level reviews. If it's not at least a B+, you don't get a naked lady and if it's better than a D, you're not getting a punch in the face. These are the rules for guest reviews as well.

There WILL be more variety in future issues because I'm probably not gonna do another issue entirely based on a single five minute game. I'm probably not even gonna start designing the next issue until the next time we have at least two games worth playing and more than a single newsworthy event.
