|
|
I am proud to announce that I have officially launched production of The Sandy Compass. Although the game is almost complete in terms of planning and conception, I have not made a great amount of headway on the game itself — being my Grade Twelve year, I expect progress to be somewhat less-than-expedient. Nonetheless, it's in production.
Story
Deep beneath the Palace Triumvirus, a cunning warrior awaits his execution on the Emperor's order, for a crime the details of which have never been released to the public — it's even rumoured that the High Scholar of Biblio Techus — the continent's all-knowing royal library — has no knowledge of the crime for which this mysterious warrior stands convicted. But one day, a minor lapse in dungeon security gives this warrior the chance to escape — and he takes it, notwithstanding the casualties of his actions.
He, along with another former inmate, quickly become caught up in a struggle for the life of the Impæra Continent — success will be rewarded by the Emperor with freedom and absolution. Failure will mean the end of civilization as they know it. With a mystical party standing behind him, can this warrior overcome insurmountable odds, and defeat this encroaching front of evil?
Screenshots shall be uploaded as soon as I deem them worthy of being the public's first impression of my graphical ... er, let's say "talent". Or, we can pretend it's talent, at least. If you have any questions or comments regarding the storyline so far, or if you feel that I'm infringing on any ideas already out there, please let me know as soon as possible.
Also, I must warn the general public that some gamers may find certain content to be "objectionable". I will release details relating to that as I finalize certain storyline-based components of the game. It's nothing that would make a game rated M or AO, though.
I am projecting a release of a demonstrative version for Christmas 2005. _________________ “Well. Think about it. Lots of things you can do with a stopwatch.†— Ianto Jones, Torchwood |

I admire your modesty.
It's nice to know what you're working on, my friend. I would love to see screen shots of this some day. Particularly battle screen shots.
Wow. Not until Christmas? Thanks for the broad fore-warning. As Peter Griffin would say, "Christmas?! Who the hell knows when that's going to be!?'"
Best of wishes towards your project. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Thank you so much for your kind words.
As for the somewhat distant demo release date, it's mostly due to school. This summer I'm taking an advanced credit course in Chemistry 12, and my course load for next year is quite academically-loaded. This, coupled with the amount of attempted *cough* detail and storyline depth, will result in a quite dragged-out development phase.

Cool. I'd like to see some screenshots soon. It doesn't sound like a half-bad game. Can't wait to play a demo or something. _________________ The Following Statement is True.

Planning and conception is a lot of work, and I consider it a lot of headway and progress. You have taken care of most design issues before they became a problem in production, you won't have to worry about re-doing any parts due to not planning ahead, implementing is clear and at worst it will be a tedious chore, not a 'as you go' mystery ride.
And stories about overcoming odds and cunning heroes are my favorite! |

The story seems fairly basic so far, but it's all in how you present it. The main character sounds intriguing anyway.
And the fact that you've planned everything out is great. Too few people plan their games, but it prevents you from being stuck halfway through with terrible plot holes or something.
Any gameplay details for us? _________________ Ssalamanderr's Journal!: http://www.livejournal.com/users/ssalamanderr/

Yeah, the story kind of sounds cliche and simple, but you might have more up your sleeve that you're not telling us. I would still play it. Most RPGs have a cliche story, anyway.
The name of the library bothers me, though. |
