Well, this is the first time that I've posted my ... quote-unquote "art" on the Castle Paradox forums. I beg of you, be kind, lol. Anyway, here goes: This is going to be a character from my now-in-production title, The Sandy Compass; his name is Ret Thæ. Any criticism that the community could take the time to offer would be greatly appreciated — being only concept art, I have a lot of time to make improvements.

A character from The Sandy Compass, named Ret Thæ; hosted by the good people at the PhotoBucket.com Web site.
Ret Thæ, a convicted warrior from Impæra Continent

Hey, man. That's not bad at all!

This is pretty detailed. The hair is divided into strands (I bet that took a steady hand - something I lack due to a medical condition -jealousy) and all the little things, like the pouch on her waist and the little patches on her clothes (on her boots and her Uniform). The pose is sort of leaning back a bit (Problem poses are so easy to catch). This could be a result of how you have the paper on your drawing surface, actually. Maybe she is about to fall? One of her eyes is bigger than the other. Also, her ears are lower than an average Person's ears usually are. Perhaps it's just a style thing, or maybe her people simply have lower ears than us.

It seems like you spent a good deal of time on her. For that, I say to you; good work.

Leroy, check again, it's a he. The face is not very masculine, but does not look particularily wrong in any way.

The detail is great and adds much to the picture. His left hand looks odd, he appears to be bending his wrist but that makes his hand look like it has no palm.

I assume it is a drawing style that his legs are huge? The massive shoes are the first thing anyone will notice.

Thanks for pointing this out, TMC. My bad, Arth.. XD
I saw his rather large, curvacious breasts, and round hips, so I assumed it was a chick without even thinking. The earings didn't help me come to a masculin conclusion either.

Also, I think he would look a lot more like a convicted warrior if he had a more interesting facial expression. Right now it's just "Buhhh'". That's alright, but it would look a lot better with more emotion.

haha, it looked a bit feminine to me too. Such as the earrings, how the cape comes around from the hips instead of the shoulders, etc. It is great as a concept sketch, with the purpose of translating it into ohr graphics. Looking forward to seeing screenshots in your other thread now!

I had a feeling that discerning the gender would be a bit of a problem, lol. For some reason my men always have a tendency of looking a bit ... well, feminine. I shall attempt to make it "easier" to catch, lol. And as for the left hand ... I dunno what happened there — I just couldn't get it to look right. Thanks for the comments — keep it coming, people. Happy

I think the feminine look is caused by the rounded jaw. Macho masculine guys usually have square jaws.

I really like the clothing design on this picture, especially the boots and the vest/armour thing. However, it is kind of hard to tell if he is wearing pants or not. If he is, they should sort of "bunch up" before they go into the boots.

I think, in part, that the large man-boobs make him look femenine. His face makes him look very young, around 10-14 Y.O. His feet also look a bit big, but that may be a perspective thing.

That's pretty good for a doodle.
