I was intrigued when I learned that the newest version of OHRRPGCE had the ability to work with transparent maptiles, but it's not quite what I was thinking. The way it IS is really cool, don't get me wrong...the ability to split a maptile down the middle and mirror it on either axis is cool, as well as being able to, say, put your armor shop sign on a different background to be placed in a new town without a whole lot of work, or without having to do it with npc's. however, it would be nice if you could go into map mode, and then 'wall' mode, and hit 'T' on a tile to make it appear overhead, but transparent in the areas colored with color '0'. I have an immediate application in my present project, so it would be nice. Does anyone know if there's a plan to implement this in future releases?...and I guess I better add that I realise the possibility that there is already a way to do this, but I can't find it in any faq or other documentation. It's not something that I think most people run into in their games, so I thought I'd ask. _________________ 'I imagine that imagination is more important than knowledge, but I don't know.' |

First of all hey there, welcome to the board. Did you introduce yourself yet? Secondly, and to your question, I don't think there is a way to make it transparent like that yet, but you might be able to simulate it with NPCs on a really small scale, or bigger if you're good. Hope it helped, xoxoxo |

Thanks! And no, I guess I haven't officially done that...i just sort of stuck my head in the room and started going blablabnlablablla Sorry.
I have only one posted project, The Local Gods.
http://castleparadox.com/download.php?game=703
It's not the only project I've started, but the first one, my favorite one, and the only one that ever went anywhere. Download it if you don't mind all your characters being a bunch of fat old guys. If you're one of the 4-7 people on Earth that are pulled into the game, then you'll be glad to know that I have big plans for it (which is mostly already formed in my head), and that the game will get better. AND YES, there are female characters in the works. (Hey shut up! The item lady looks pretty good, and the harpies are stacked, dammt! )
I love the entire shining series, phantasy star, disgaea, FFT, royal stone,
virtual hydlide (1 of the 5, and proud of it!), skies of arcadia, azure dreams, arc the lad...and a bunch of others. All of them have influenced or inspired me in some way. What are some games that have inspired other people here? Maybe I should start a game/music influence thread some time. As far as music goes, I'm pretty much stuck in the 80's...I still listen to the smiths, echo & the bunnymen, dead can dance, the cocteau twins, but I also like skinny puppy, coil...industrial-type stuff. Speaking of that, I make music in that vein also.

Hope you like popups. Sheesh, it wasn't like that the last time I went there.
Anyway, I'm also an artist:

And that's probably about 39 times more information than you wanted to know...but there you go.

But I am myself! Who else would I be, silly goose?
EDIT: Who is PHC? Why does he want me to stop? Is he a moderator? Can he change my nickname? I don't want to be Gizmog1, I want to be PolRaven! |

OK, gizmog, give the newbee a break, will ya'? I HAVE been able to amuse myself greatly, though, by going back through your previous posts
and reading them again with the new avatar(s).
I just can't imagine Celia (or is that lede) from FF tactics saying

That'll be nice. It's already pretty much set up in my game, 6 button presses and it'll be how I want it. Basically I'm trying to show NPC's walking around behind a window. I know it'll have to be set against a black background, but it can be that they're just inside a dark room. Although with layers that might not even matter... _________________ 'I imagine that imagination is more important than knowledge, but I don't know.' |
