I didn't know you had a band. That's pretty cool. I think it's a bad connection time on this computer I'm on, so I'll check back later.
I also sent you a friend invitation. It will come up reading "Other Side of Yesterday".

I've been meaning to comment on this, but your myspace page doesn't seem to like my computer...
Anyway, cool stuff. I dig the guitar riff in "disentrampment" a lot.
I'm curious about what you did for recording, especially for the drums. Recording is a problem that my band (and, I'm sure, just about every other shoestring budget band) has, and I was kind of struck by how totally different your drums sounded than our on our first home recording, and even our second semi-professional recording. We're always struggling to make sure the drums have a decent volume and don't sound all muddy, and that the snare doesn't sound "splashy". You're drums on the other hand are loud and punchy as all get out. How did you mic them? Did you just turn them way the hell up in the mix? Tune the toms real tight?
Also... No bass? |

That's right, no bass in these recordings. We didn't have our new bassist until just after.
Only one mic was used for anything there. I would hook my drummer up to my amp with headphones, so we'd technically be playing together, which naturally helps to create the "live" feel. Then I took it home, re-recorded the guitar, playing to the drum track, this time straight into my computer, (avoiding ambient noise), and then the lyrics. After syncing all the parts, I created multiple tracks for each one, each with their own pan values, and lo-mid-his, and whatever else was needed; the aim of course, to be able to highly customize the sound. I didn't work too terribly hard on these ones, so future ones should sound pretty sweet, especially when we have bass in them (I never before realized just HOW much a bass adds, especially if your bassist takes more melodic approaches to the music.)
The location may have been a help when it came to the drums. We recorded it in a shed, basically, so most of the sound when right to the mic.
Thanks for the listen dude : ) _________________ SACRE BLEU!
