The new songs I mentioned in another thread are (FINALLY) all mixed up and ready to go.

A Fox in the Penthouse

Apartness

Axes in the Attic

Eraser

Mountains

As always, comments are most appreciated! I'll post the lyrics shortly.

A Fox in the Penthouse - Mellow tune. It was definitely an opener type before moving into the crazier stuff.

Apartness - Gotta love the good ol' fashioned screaming. Well composed, executed, and vocalized.

Axes in the Attic - It may just be me, but it sounded one of the two guitars was slightly out of tune (the one mixed into the left speaker). Again, that might just be me. Interesting tune, rather original in style if I do say so, and that is always a good thing.

Eraser - This piece almost makes me think of System of a Down meets Chevelle, mostly in its own composition. It was definitely a good one to mosh to, that's for sure. Raspberry!

Mountains in France - This song is another good mix into the sound you guys have. While there's nothing particularly special and stand-outish about it, it still is a necessary part of the album.

Altogether, I really believe that you guys need to be recorded with better equipment that can put out 24-bit sound and mastered, because this is good original music that really deserves to be brought out in better quality sound. If this is what you believe you will pursue with your life, I would strongly recommend finding a good studio to record your performance. Then, once that happens, let me know so I can buy your CD. Raspberry!

Keep it up.

Yeah, the curse of being in a poor-ass band. The story of this recording is actually fairly interesting. We sublet a warehouse space along with three other local bands, and the other part of that warehouse is being used by a community recording collective started by a friend of ours. The idea behind it is to make recording accessible to any member of the community, and the charge is "whatever you can pay", which was something we could actually afford!

Anyway, the downside of this system is that they obviously don't make a lot of money and don't have the best equipment, and it's run by guys who don't have any formal training in sound engineering. We were actually the first band to record with them when they started, so it was largely an experiment. Hopefully when we're ready to lay down some more tracks, they'll have better equipment and more experience, and we'll get closer to a perfect sound. I don't know if it'll ever be totally professional quality, but I do appreciate the DIY aesthetic that comes from recording this way.

Anyway, I certainly hope everything we do is a progression from our previous work. Thanks for the listen and kind words, and be sure to play it for your friends!
