Some minor corrections:
- not all of the battles were based on ones from commercial games; in fact, I'd say most are not (see below*)
- possible party combinations is 1297 (6^4 + the Civilian)
- the maps did have music, but in TH's defense, it wasn't very memorable and you didn't spend that much time on the maps anyway
- very nitpicky, but Vengeance can be beaten strategically rather than the hope-he-doesn't-cast-Vengeance method (see below**)
Overall, this review gives a good overview of what the game's about and points out some good areas for improvement. Thanks for the review!

* I was curious, so I looked at all the battles in Custom. Of the 22 battles in DD, the following battles are "borrowed": Trap Door (FF4 Trap Door), Shroudmage (CT Son of Sun), and both Earthwyrm battles (FF5 Sandworm). Generically, the Quasar and Cyborg could also be considered to borrow from the FF standard (like the FF4 Core battle in the Tower of Babel, for instance) and the Doom Mask and Juggernaut are similar to some battles (CT Tyrano and the lame-o whatsit right before Dalton).
** While Civilian should probably just nuke the guy and hope for the best, my most recent playthrough beat him by using Safe and Regen on the party, then just damaging him a little at a time so that Vengeance would do insignificant damage. There are probably quicker ways to beat him without risking instant death, but I had a really bad party (Pa/Nj/Pr/Wz). _________________

-Well, I read from your readme that you based your battles on commercially-made ones, so I pretty much assumed that all of them were.
-With the party combination, I guess I forgot to take into account that you could have the multiple copies of a single character. I did (6x5x4x3)+1.
Thanks for the positive feedback. I didn't have too much experience with reviewing, so it probably could've been better.
If I had the power to edit my review, I would. I guess a little communication between game maker and reviewer would make for a better review, huh? |

Actually, I realized after I was already in bed last night that we were both wrong since order is unimportant.
Since I've been out of school too long, I have to consult Wiki:
When the order does not matter and an object can be chosen more than once, then the number of combinations is
(n + r - 1)! / r!(n - 1)!
where n is the number of objects from which you can choose and r is the number to be chosen.
So that's (6+4-1)! / 4! (6-1)! = 9! / 4! 5! = 126 + 1 for the Civilian = 127.
Boy was I off. _________________
