A new version of FFH has been released in the gamelist. However, more issues are bound to pop up. That's where you (the players) come in.
Since FFH is an ever evolving game, I need continuous feedback to keep improving it. Whenever you encounter what appears to be a bug, or get stuck, please post here OR in the FFH feedback topic at the Renzokuken Message Board. http://www.beyonddigital.net/~ducky/boards/viewtopic.php?t=221
When you post a bug, state your location in the game, the best description of what happens, the EXACT members of your party (ie:Human Fighter, Elven Cleric, Dwarven Magician, etc.), who you started with, and any other information you believe would be helpful in fixing the bug.
While this is not an open invitation for suggestions on additions to the game, or a forum for posting questions on where to go next, I will nevertheless answer any such inquires to the best of my ability. Please direct all suggestions and gameplay questions to the Renzokuken Message board http://www.beyonddigital.net/~ducky/boards/viewtopic.php?t=221, or drop me either a PM, or an email and I will promptly answer.
Thank you for your time, and enjoy the game. |

Another update for 3/3/2003. This one fixes many gameplay issues that had been stuck in the game for some time. There may still be more laying in wait, so mission is: Search and destroy. |

I would like to inform you that there are two major bugs would i would like to see fixed.
1. Any and all use of "Poison" crashes the game.
Whenever the poison status would take effect, for example, upon a thief attacking with a poison knife, or a snake or the Giga Oglop using it's poison attack, the game immediately crashes.
This crash consists of the game going to a dos-esque screen containing some very complicated error info, and a message to send said info to the hamster republic. Sadly, i could not copy and paste it. One of the highlights is that it says there is a "line missing" of some sort. This, as you can see, is a major game breaking bug.
2. Life Effects cannot target dead party members.
Contrary to what you would expect, the spell "Life" or Phoenix Potions do not have the ability to restore life to dead allies. They cannot even target them. I presume this is unintentional.
Both bugs happened with a party consisting of an Anthro Fighter, an Anthro Thief, an Anthro Cleric, and an Anthro Wizard. My version of the game was obtained on 29/03/2003 from the castle paradox site.
Thank you.
Edit:
I almost forgot about this. you can steal X-Potions from wolves. I don't think that was intentional, seeing as you can sell those for 1250 gil, or heal a party member fully. Seeing as wolves are the second weakest monster in the game, it doesn't add up. Just thought you'd like to know. |

Okay, first of all, if the poison stat doesn't work, you obviously have a version of OHR prior to November 27, 02.
Second up, the life does work, except you have the same problem as before.
And the wolves were intentional. It is pretty hard to steal from them, it's about a one-in-ten chance. _________________ Missing in Action

One bug I had is that everyone treated me like I was an Anthro, even though I hadn't a single Anthro in my party. I had a Human Thief, Dwarven Fighter, Elven Wizard, and Elven Cleric. They did it throughout the whole game, from the wolf outside Coneria until the end.
I suppose it has something to do with the fact that I looked through all the characters (first looking through the Anthros) before choosing my first character (Human Thief).
Also, the debug keys are off, but that might be intentional. |

Hmm... I had a problem. In the ruined city just past the dwarven area (where I gave the dynamite to that guy), the gal at the inn wouldn't let me sleep. She said something along the lines of "500 gil, take it or leave it" but there was no option for "rest at inn" or "leave" and so I couldn't rest or save there.
Also, Princess whatshername said she gave me a flute, but it didn't appear in my items. I don't know if that was intentional or not, though, since I had the same problem with the dynamite, but I gave it to that dwarf all the same.
Beautiful game, I must say. |

I did have the same problem as Chimera, and BTW, the debug keys are intentional, as I got stuck, as did many others with unlinked doors, i.e. links to door 0 on map 0 all the time. This was really annoying, as it sent you back to the charachter select screen and you couldn't move.
Mr. B, I had the same problem at the Inn, but I exited and came back, and it worked fine. The flute and the dynamite aren't items, they're tags. This was to save space in the Item list, as the items didn't really do anything. _________________ Missing in Action

His mention of the Lute reminds me of something. You never use it! It never comes into play, except when they give it to you. Explain! |

When I was origonally planning FFH, I had two different theories on how I was going to develop it. The first was that it would follow the EXACT storyline of FF1 to the letter, you had a ship, a world map, and the game ended at Chaos. The second was as you see it now, it's LIKE the first, but not exactly. I figured to make it less painful to get from one place to another, certain things had to be changed.
For instance, Matoya the Witch lost her Quartz Seeing Eye to Astos, planning to use its power and the crown to eventually take over the Elven Kingdom. Normally, when you beat him, you bring the Eye back to Matoya, who gives you the herbs, but I had it so that Seraph already made the exchange for you, so all you had to do was see the prince.
Another instance is the Earth Cave, with the Vampire and the Ruby subquest. Normally, You get to the vampire on the Third floor of the cave and can't go any further, thus forcing you to go see a sage who helps you get to Lich. I've made it instead, that if you already know HOW to get into Lich's room, or if you search hard enough, the ruby quest isn't required.
There's several other instances where this occurs, but the point is, I decided to streamline the story and questing in FFH, to keep the player involved in it. The Lute remains, as does the Cube later on, but their purpose changes. Sara, for instance, because of her "queen bitch" personality, wouldn't give you the lute outright, it would go against her character. It's also mentioned as a "red herring", to throw off Vets who think that the game will be a breeze 'cause they already know where everything is.
This is also the primary reason I introduced Seraph into the plot. With one character, everything changes. There's now more than just evil Fiends trying to destroy Gaia, because everything is much more complex. Now you have A corrupt religion breathing down the necks of its people, feeding off the racial hatred and mistrust between its peoples. There's the Liefenish, who ages ago had a Nuclear war, destroying their civilization. I won't even go into the zyran race's background, but as you can see, there's more here than was in the Original game, and just because of one extra character's actions on the storyline. He (She?) has a past, motivations, and even problems. FFH isn't the story about how the Light Warriors go out and save the world. It's about the rise, fall, and rebirth of Seraph, pushed on all sides, and who decides to fight back. It's another telling of "everyman", and to prove that point, try to find out whether the character is directly called male or female. To me, he's male, but that's not the same for someone else.
I went off on a tangent again. Silly me. in retrospect, now that I've officially ENDED all bugfixing, everyone starts reporting glitches and problems. Tell you what, I'll update it again whenever the OHR engine does. |

Hmm...I tried entering that inn several times.
Perhaps I have an older version of the game? |

I don't know if this is a bug or just a little easter egg, but when your characters are on the path to Garland's castle, there is a door in the trees that teleport's you to the 'Choose Your Character' screen. You have to use F11 to walk there. It's slighty above the door to Coneria Town. |

It's not a bug. Since you have to press F11 to do it, it's already cheating to get to the cheat. Coincidentally, with that method it is altogether possible to get 4 BMAGs at once. Now I've just breathed new life into the game... shit.
I'm pretty certain I also included an Executable file with both versions of FFH, so I should avoid any future comments about false incompatibility issues as well (ie: Poison crashing the game).
Like I've also said earlier, FFH's development is more or less stopped, until a future update of the OHR engine comes out with new features. At that time, I'll either drop or fix the "Null" type spells, in favor of Regen, Blink, and Aero to give the Clerics something useful to attack with. |

Yeah, if I recall something on another FFH glitch thread, there was something about door zero leading to map zero on every map, or something like that.
But what would Blink be, Fenrir? Would it be something to cure darkness, or something else?
Oh, one more thing I noticed with FFH: Every time my theif used that poisoned knife, and it delt enough damage to kill the monster and/or boss, the thing didn't die; it just waited until the poison affected it and just disappeared, instead of pixilating away. It got to be extremely annoying. And there's another glitch regarding a character suddenly being thrown to the other side of the battle field during battle. It did it once, to my cleric. I have a picture, and since I'm too lazy to host it on a site right now, I'll just e-mail it to you.
EDIT: OK, nevermind. I just realized you don't display your e-mail address. Then would you be willing to host it on your site so you could see it? |
