I know now how to make title screens but what I don't understand is that the only screan I can import is sandsea.bmp Now the other screens I tried wouldn't work. I figured "Maybe it's just cause they're not bmp files". so I switched them over to BMP files and now when I go to import them. They show up in dark grey and won't import. I think this is happening because the picture is to big (as in it's [example] 2000x3000) to fit the screen. Is this my problem, if not what is do I have to downsize it? |

This is the exact same concept as resizing images on a forum, although I do not recommend using MS Paint to do this.
I recommend downloading The GIMP and the GTK+ Runtime needed so that you can use The GIMP as not only your image re-sizer, but also as a better application for making battle backgrounds.
Yes, there are other image editing programs, but the GIMP is guaranteed to be free and it is a Photoshop clone, making it guaranteed to be able to resize images and other basic changes.
EDIT: I forgot to add, the bitmap will also need to be in 256 colors, because OHRRPGCE was originally a DOS program and it is just beginning to overcome its limits. |

Actually, backgrounds and tilesets can be imported at 24-bit color depth. Only recently, other color depths were made importable (why they weren't originally is beyond me, though). _________________

You guys forgot to mention that the OHR only imports backdrops with the dimension of 320x200. |

*smacks his forehead on the color depth tidbit*
I could have sworn AutoT knew to resize it to 320x200. I guess you never know. |

Perhaps a reading of the Howto/FAQ would be a good suggestion? Seems he already jumped the gun once with tags and scripts. Not that I'm saying asking for help is necessarily a bad thing, but it is already on your computer when you download the OHR. _________________

Thx. This really helps and yeah I know I had to resize it. I figured that out when I noticed that sandsea.bmp was 320x200 and fit the screen perfectly. |

That's something most people overlook because they were around back when 320X200 was a legal screen resolution (god, i don't think my windows goes under 800X600 anymore in Desktop mode!)
It used to be technology. So I'm guessing AutoT is from a newer generation?
Because OHR is an initially DOS based engine, it might be a good thing to look at the howto since most of its technology-driven apps are... "dated" So I wouldn't put it on the count of AutoT's newbiness, but his youth, which are two very different things... The latter being not as insulting as Newbie_Power makes it sound in his post *cough* |
