(I can't move. Is it fatigue from that last battle or am I paralyzed with fear?)
"You have a choice," the foul voice said to him, resonating with bitterness and mockery. "Give me your Will for me to feast upon or I will kill these while you watch." The shadowy figure gestured broadly to where we lay motionless. My eyes darted over to where he stood. I saw him fighting tears that refused to be held as he sheathed his weapon and began unfastening his shield.
"No!" I cried. "You damned fool." But he only shook his head and lamely choked, "No one should suffer because of me."

From the Darkmoor Beckons soundtrack, this is the short, intense theme played when the villain has one or more good guys at his mercy. I toyed with putting in a melody line, but anything I tried only detracted from the song. The heartbeat drumline was the final addition, and I think it really solidifies the song.
Enjoy! _________________

It is my understanding that this song is a rather short theme that you do not intend to use a lot right? Otherwise, I'd recommend making a progressive melodic approach in a following pattern.
Otherwise, I like it very much, there is a lil something "sad/happy" nostalgic about it that will most definatly tie the player with his emotions when such scene happens.
I personally recommend the addition of melodic strings in an adjacent pattern, personnal opinion that is
Which reminds me... when is this game gonna be released? (or do you have no idea about that so far?) |

I don't quite understand what you're suggesting, but, yes, this is a theme to be played during brief story sequences. Now that I think about it, it's a lot like "One of Them is Hope" from Secret of Mana, except that song feels more like an anxiety to finish a very important task, whereas this one feels more like a surrender.

It will be released when it is done
Right now, I am hoping to get it out the doors before the middle of the year, but it could be months sooner or months later, depending on how things work out. The game will not be released until I am satisfied with it. _________________

Well, your song consists of 4 identical pattern, what I meant is, unless the song is meant to play only for about 3 or 5 seconds, I suggest adding meat to the bone. I personally expressed the idea of using the same pattern a second time but added with a string melody over it.
And for the game release, thanks, I was hoping you wouldn't rush things for some deadline |

forgot to say that the bells might be tuned too low (well on my midi synth, they do sound too low to stay in pitch).
Also, I think the drum is a little too rudimental, it could do with a sequence of 1 hihat and snare hit replacing the 2 bassdrum strokes (B - B.... H - S)
Good bassline though, and nice piano chords. |
