i'm not sure if it's just me, but nightly versions of HSpeak doesn't seem to be able to read plotscr.hsd. The exact message i'm getting is:
| Code: | ERROR: In line 739 of c:\custom\plotscr.hsd
define trigger,begin
Expected top-level declaration but found definetrigger |
It seems to compile fine with Hasta-la-qb+, but i wanna use the nifty new commands in the nightly... |

An out-of-date version of HSpeak. Are you sure you have a nightly build? Try running it, what version number does it print? _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

HamsterSpeak semicompiler v2H
Last Modified August 3 2006 3:47pm
So, it's the same one that comes with the last stable update.
I further experimented, and discovered that the problem is with plotscr.hsd and not hspeak. The plotscr.hsd that is included in hasta+ compiles just fine, but the plotscr.hsd that is included in the nightly doesn't compile. I've tried this with several nightly versions, but still to no avail.
I guess i'd have to wait for the next version to use the new features. |

"nightly versions of HSpeak doesn't seem to be able to read plotscr.hsd"
Oh, I thought you meant you were using a nightly build of Hspeak. Nightly builds are available from the 'Downloads' page, you'll need them to use the latest plotscr.hsd. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I've been having the same problem for a good while. An older version of the nightly allowed me to just convert plotscr.hsd back to its old format, but I can't do that anymore.
Very frustrating.
Anyways, I tried doing a completely new install (as recommended above) and got the same error. All sorts of obscure internal problems in the compiler, appended by an exhortation to read ex.err (or whatever the file is), which doesn't exist.
Well, serves me right for trying to use a nightly. I hope Tirgoviste comes out soon. Any news on that? It seems like only one or two things are blocking release. |

In addition to using the nightly editions, you may also want to check up on the nightly version of hspeak.
And by the way, Tirgoviste is out already.
But I believe you are asking for the status of Ubersetzung; in which case, the developers are keeping the rest of us in the dark. |

| you must use BOTH the nightly version of plotscr.hsd AND the nightly build of hspeak.exe together. You cannot mix old hspeak + new plotscr.hsd nor new hspeak + old plotscr.hsd |

Actually, Hspeak will work fine with old versions of plotscr.hsd and old style scripts. What you can NOT do is mix an OLD plotscr.hsd with script files which depend on a NEW one.

Please, do you have any details/testcases of this? A script file? EX.ERR is generated when hspeak crashes. Maybe it was saved in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\ - Windows sometimes ignores the working directory. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Ooops, heheh... Yeah.
I believe that I downloaded the latest everything file. The one refered to as "unsure? download this!" or somesuch. I'll try again -- it may have simply been a lowsy nightly || I did something stupid.
I'll look for the file there, but I was piddling about in My Documents this morning and deleted everything (hand-me-down laptop ya know). |

Okay! Having suffered a number of setbacks (not all due to base stupidity) I have finally acquired the requested data.
I downloaded ohr-wip-default.zip and hspeak-win-nightly (both from 2/28) and installed them. When attempting to compile my script, I got this message:
| Code: | [...]HSPEAK.EXE:3153 in function optimized_arg()
subscript value2 is out of bounds, reading from a sequence of length 1
... called from [...]HSPEAK.EXE:3197 in function optimize_script()
... called from [...]HSPEAK.EXE:3203 in function optimize_script()
... called from [...]HSPEAK.EXE:3240 in procedure compile_a_script()
... called from [...]HSPEAK.EXE:3324 in procedure compile_each_script()
... called from [...]HSPEAK.EXE:3421
--> see ex.err |
As before, I was not able to see ex.err, so I did a full-system search. It ended up being in my c:\ directory for some reason, not the directory that hspeak.exe was in.
Is there any way to attach this file to a post, or should I e-mail it to someone? (or something else).
By way of testing, I created a simple script file that did nothing but show textbox zero, and it compiled just fine. |

Could you create a bug on 'bugzilla' and attach the files? (You'll need to attach them in a comment to the bug) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

| Sure...however, I won't be able to name it more specifically than "HSpeak Crashes," which is rather boring and uninformative! |

| I post all that script business by-and-by. Lots of stuff to do today. Sorry I can't be more informative! |
