I am looking to commission a remix/rewrite/replacement for Broaste's Madness, the theme music for battles with Lord Broaste and Broaste's Ghost from Wandering Hamster. I will pay prices as quoted in the Classifieds thread. The song needs to be licenced as either 'Public Domain' or 'GPL' compatable.

It is possible that more than one submission might be accepted, since there is no reason why I can have different variants of the song for different Broaste Incarnations.

The remix does not need to bear strong resemblance to the original, since there actually isn't that much there to work with in the first place :)

Will this work? I always imagined that the fight with the undead Broaste would have sounded like this somewhat, but its been too long since I've played it.

It's good, it does makes me think of Castlevania though... but that is probably because of my association with organ type music with it. I think if maybe if it was a little faster it might be more appropriate for the ghost Broaste fight?

Oh, and it also makes me think of the Sword of Jade final battle theme (the third set of the final battle with Gahn).

Actually yes, SoJ uses Tocatta in Fugue for its last battle theme.

Hey, nice. It doesn't really sound very much like battle music to me, but I would like to use it. I think it would suit Broaste's Castle well, that way I can have different music for Broaste's Castle than I do for Hasim's

I just composed this for the battle. I hope you find it suitable!

Nice! It is actually rather more mellow than I like for battle, but I can definitely use it. Thanks! I now owe you $7

Fenrir-Lunaris, did you fully-sequence Tocatta and Broaste yourself, or did you base it on somebody else's sequence of Tocatta and Fugue? (and if the latter, do you know the licencing on the original?)

Thank you very much for your kind offer James, but I require no money for my work! It is always a pleasure to be of service!

The piece is GPL, to do with, as you please.

(could you also confirm if the Mousorgsky works are going to be used? I can most likely get the sheet music and do an arrangement of them easily at any point.)

I might try my hand at this. Everyone loves a Moogle battle theme.

The piece itself was perhaps 80% composed by ear, with a few extra additions that just sounded right. I say this, after listening to a version of it produced by the US army (anything they play is in the public domain) over and over, and trying to pick out the notes by ear. I got about a minute or so of it before realizing that there's no one section that would loop just right. This was slow going, since I couldn't find sheet music of it at the time.

...Real slow going. Honestly I don't see why I started at all, except to try to get more experience out of composing music by listening to notes and trying to pick them out. Apparently I'm slightly tone deaf, or have a lot of difficulty picking out what a note on paper should sound like.

Eventually I got frustrated with this and referred to the PD version availible in the current packaging of the OHRRPGCE (the bam Version) and referencing which notes should have gone where, and finding I had to put very short rests in between the 16th notes here and there. The remainder was checked against two other widely availible midi compositions of Tocatta in Fugue, those by Kenneth T. Settlemyer and Al Borges, both of whom have released their compositions into the world of public domain. I have no idea what the PD Bam version was based on, so I'm not altogether sure on that one.

If it sounds similar to another verson you've seen before, it's because it *IS* using other people's previous work as the basis for what it should sound like. J. S. Bach's the original, of that I'm certain. If it sounds too suspicious to you, then I'd implore you NOT to use it. I really couldn't add much more than I already have.

Except that Jabbercat and Moogle1's compositions rock, and you should totally use them too!

Yes, I like the mussorgsky stuff, and plan on continuing to use it, although remixes and resequences are welcome

Oh, not it does not sound suspicuous to me at all-- it actually sounded like a unique recomposition to me, I just wanted to make sure. I do believe I will be using it for Broaste's Castle. EDIT: for the Broaste Ghost Battle

I owe you $7 (and don't let eveyone else's puzzling attacks of charity pressure you into declining it :)

I agree, and I will be :)
